can't remember term

I remember reading on here a strategy where you just (blindly) apply to the top 25 colleges, but I can’t remember what the term for it is! Can anyone help me out??

Crazy.

Haven’t seen it used here, but are you thinking of shotgunning or shotgun approach?

P.S. Not recommended.

Throwing apps at the wall to see what sticks? Bad plan. And yes, it’s called a shotgun approach. Not a good plan.

Not to mention the cost and time commitment to do 25 apps

And which 25? Does this include LAC’s?

@Normani

Are these still your stats?

Applying blindly to 25 colleges is expensive…and might not net you an acceptance anywhere. You need to look at a variety of colleges carefully.

And if you need financial aid…that adds a whole other criteria.

It really doesn’t matter what it’s called.

I wasn’t going to do that myself haha! I just wanted to remember what it was called

“Shotgunning,” I think. It’s generally unwise, although it seems to work out occasionally (typically for extraordinarily accomplished URMs with unusual personal histories, who qualify for application-fee waivers and who are likely to receive full or near-full scholarships).

Especially if they are triplets, or quadruplets, or quintuplets, LOL!

^^^The quadruplets were judicious in terms of where they applied – there was no “shotgunning” there. Likely that is why they had time to prepare thoughtful and well done applications.
