Can't wait to graduate, anyone else?

I wish I had enough time this summer to take a bunch of courses... I seriously wanna graduate ASAP. Here I am spending yet another weekend night on the internet because it's impossible to make friends in college. My roommates are pretty much my only friends so it's kinda hard to do anything when they're all at home or at the bars (I'm 20 so I can't go with them). At least once I graduate I hopefully won't be surrounded by people goin out and living life... since I'll probably live in a nice quiet town, not some obnoxious city neighborhood. The sooner I get out of here the better. Anyone else wanna finish this journey already?

I passed the “point of no return”, if you will, when it came to deciding whether I should graduate early or not. Decided to graduate early and I’m not looking back. :)

Hellz yes

ommmmggggg it cannot wait. I’m so sick of school. I’m tired of having to pull allnighter every thursday niight. I hate having so many deadlines gangbanging me to death. I want to make some MONEY!!

OP-why can’t you go out with people in your situation ? You will be older soon enough . Enjoy what you have now .

as soon as I get my first real paycheck, I’m going to the bank and withdraw it all in $1’s and then I’m going to spread it over my bed, and make a money angel, and make it rain, etc…

Nah. The real world is scary o.o

Yep. I’m definitely ready. Only two months left for me. I think I’d be more nervous if I didn’t have plans for after graduation. I’m starting a PhD though, and I’m ready to move onto another stage of life.

Yes, i have so much more schooling ahead of me.

I’m excited for the ceremony since I’d be the first in my family to graduate from college but I dont want to be in the “real world” yet. I like not having responsibility.

you mean another stage of school?

^ School is a stage of life. Going from high school to undergrad is a new stage and undergrad to grad is another stage.

I’m being paid a good amount of money for my PhD, and I’ll be living on my own. I’ll be totally financially independent from my family. So yes, it is another stage of life.

I’m not arguing with you, financial independence is huge. Just saying, you’ll be taking the hardest classes you’ve ever taken in your life, and working 60 hours/week, or at least that’s the PhD lifestyle in my field. I don’t mean to burst your bubble, but I tend to associate school with imprisonment, and a phd definitely sounds like that to me.

I don’t associate school with imprisonment unless it’s specifically medical school.

phd: 5 years of underpaid torment or 5 years of paid freedom. go figure.

I’m looking forward to the future. Leaving this house I’ll have tons of responsibilities but at least my independence finally. It’ll feel scary but liberating going to college in the fall for two more years. Beyond that, I am definitely looking forward to graduating college because I will also be the first to graduate college in the history of my family.

I’m hoping that I get into the graduate or law schools that I want to go to. I’m hoping I either get my JD or PhD. I’m hoping for a bright future and it’s a little crazy that I may be in the process of starting a family six years from now, married, and working. All I have to do now is…learn. Sure, I’ll have to get a job as a tutor to help pay my bills, but that’s nothing.

Can’t wait to graduate high school!!!

I think it’s pretty pathetic that it’s already well into the second page of this thread and I’m the ** first ** person who actually ** likes ** being in college. We need to enjoy what we have now rather than constantly focus on the next step in life. If we spend our entire college careers saying, “Oh man, I just want to graduate and get a real job,” we’ll look back at our college career in the future and se it as a boring waste when everyone else has amazing stories and great memories.

I would ** much ** rather wake up at 9AM, go to two 75 minute classes, do a few hours of homework and then hang out and have a beer with friends everyday than wake up at 7AM, fight traffic, sit at a desk in a boring office for 8 1/2 hours, fight traffic again, and then get home and just want to go to bed.

The ladder from above is what most of us will end up doing regardless, so why not make the precious time before then enjoyable?

*the latter, not “the ladder”

I think it’s a bit judgmental for you to label someone else’s post as pathetic. Moreover, who are you to say that everyone is going to have a boring office job? For one, I can’t wait to become a teacher next year - that’s what keeps me going. If the OP was enjoying college, do you think they’d be making the post? If you didn’t enjoy college, do you think you’d be so harsh towards him?

I agree with RadicalCar. Does no one watch the news or something? The country is kinda lame atm. And college is a safehaven. Just chill out withfriends, learn some stuff, and maybe get a job. Smooth sailing. Then it ends, you blink for a second, and you have a prick for a boss, a wife who divorced you for half your earnings, a 16 year old daughter who is pregnant, and a doctor named Earl who puts on a rubber glove to stick their finger up your bottom.

No thanks. Forever young.
