Hey you guys, I thought I'd just throw this out there. There's a student who's rallying for a real cantonese class since the only other one available was purely conversational and nothing else. Here was his message:

"I am organizing a new Cantonese language class that will satisfy the language GER and all other department language requirements including the International Relations requirement. I have already spoken with the Provost (John Etchemendy) and if I can find just 4 other people then this will happen for sure. We have already found enough people to make the class happen, however you must notify me that you wish to take the class now. Telling me is not binding, but you will not be able to sign up for this class through the usual channels.

This new class will satisfy the requirement because it teach both reading and writing.

The old Cantonese class was just a conversation class. The old class was only 2 units and satisfied no requirements. This new class will be different.

Please email me at seanclee@stanford.edu if you are interested in this or know who may be. I would really appreciate your help.
