CAP 21 precollege mt summer program

This is probably a stupid question, but on The New School summer housing website what would those of us attending CAP be considered? An NYC Summer Intern? And it says there is a minimum stay of six weeks, but does that not apply to CAP students? If anyone would be willing to PM me or knows about their housing I would greatly appreciate it.

i sent you a PM Chad

I did this program last summer and it was absolutely incredible. I would do it over again a million times!

My son will be attending the CAP21 high school program. Glad to see this board.
If anyone’s interested, he started a Facebook page – Cap21 High School Summer Program 2010 – so the kids can get to know each other before June. We’re from NY but he’s looking at NYU housing & I’ll also try the New School. If there are any boys who are looking for roommates he’d be interested in hearing from you – easier than getting a single.

My daughter was in Cap 21 last year at 15 accepted and barely 16 in NYC living in New School. She thrived and grew so much! She did have other girls who were not yet 17 as roommates. I can help with questions. Also call the New School and ask for summer housing and they can help. Ashley from Cap helped locate other girls under 17 looking for roommates. Hope that helps!

My daughter wnet top CAp last summer and had the best time of her life. The training was excellent and she loved New York!! She and her friends saw many shows and she stayed in the NYU dorms. (NYU dorms were not super clean) She just finished college auditions and has 2 acceptances already fro Musical Theatre (OCU and ELON) haven’t heard form the rest yet, but I can’t say enough good about CAP 21

Hi, I was just accepted into the program and I wanted to join the Facebook page but it didn’t seem to show up when I searched for it. I was wondering if anyone could PM it to me? Thanks!

I have an audition for CAP21 Sunday. Do you think it is possible the program is already full?

A program doesn’t take the time to audition people if it is full. I am sure it is not yet full.

My D has gotten into Cap 21, OCU and Syracuse summer programs. She’s waiting to hear from Tisch. I think she is leaning towards Cap 21 but I’m worried that she won’t find housing. She will be 17 just before the programs starts. Is there still NYU housing available? How do you find a roommate?

Does anyone know if the program is full yet? I have been accepted to BTP but i think CAP 21 might be a more productive experience for me this summer. Any insight?

On the website it says that spots are still available, so my guess would be that it is not full.

Yes, i contacted them and they are accepting my audition dvd (!!!) I am really hoping i get in…hopefully there aren’t too many girls already haha

Could anyone point me towards the facebook group. Im applying so late in the game that im scared that even if i get in…i wont have anyone to room with. Im sorry I double posted…i did not realize until i entered it :/

For those who attended this program in the past, can you give me an idea of the general nature of your schedule during the week? Did you have a lot of work to do in the evenings after class? What about weekends? Were you pretty free to do what you wanted to do outside of class for fun? My S has an audition this Monday. We live 45 min north of NYC, but he really wants to stay in NYC during the week. (Of course, this is only IF he gets accepted. ) Will he have time to come home on weekends realistically?
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I think the weekends are free. I know others who did the CAP21 summer program (not the one through Tisch) who commuted from home.

My son started a page for the kids to get to know each other. If your daughter goes to Facebook & types in Cap21 pre-college summer 2010 it will come up. We’re from Westchester NY but my son is staying at NYU housing. It’s too late now for NYU but think there’s still availability through the New School

My son got in to both Carnegie Mellon and CAP21 pre-college and has chosen CAP21! He is soooo psyched and will be joining the Facebook page later today. He is searching for a roommmate so if anyone out there is looking, please let us know! Calls into NYU (whose website states they still have space) and New School today for housing. Fingers crossed!

My D went to Cap 21 last summer and loved it. She had lots of time to see shows with her new found friends. Classes are M-F, I think about 9-5 on Fridays they got off an hour early. She was always out socializing and would never have come back to Louisiana if she didn’t have to. Cap was a great experience and I think it really prepared her for the audition process this year. She also came back with such a great sense of confidence!! Can’t say enough.

^apes4245, that is great to hear. I know my S is really looking forward to it. Was your daughter able to get discounted (ie student) tickets to the shows she saw? I can see how this will get very expensive, very quickly. Best wishes to your D as she graduates and begins her new journey this fall. I’m sure she’ll do wonderfully!
