I thought these would qualify as “fun facts” :D

From the 2006 season:
Jason Tam and Natalie Cortez are starring as Paul and Morales in the Broadway Revival of A Chorus Line;
Adam Jacobs opened in the Broadway revival of Les Mis as Marius;
Kristen Bell (Broadway’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Crucible) can be seen starring as TV’s Veronica Mars;
Matt Morrison was nominated for a Tony Award for his role in The Light In The Piazza, and has also appeared on Broadway in The Rocky Horror Show, Hairspray and A Naked Girl on the Appian Way;
Melissa Gallo plays Adriana on TV’s One Life to Live;
Jen Gambatese (Broadway’s All Shook Up, Footloose) is currently Jane in Disney’s Tarzan;
Nikki James, (Broadway’s All Shook Up and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer) Rashad Naylor (Broadway’s Hairspray) and Michael Benjamin Washington (Broadway’s Momma Mia and La Cage aux Folles) are starring as Dorothy, The Scarecrow and The Tinman in The Wiz at the La Jolla Playhouse;
Tom Cannizzaro in Broadway’s Cabaret and currently in Spamalot;
Dashiel Eaves in Broadway’s 1776, The Sound of Music, The Dead and the recent The Lieutenant of Inishmore;
Jamie Kirchner currently starring in Broadway’s Rent as Mimi;
Meg Gillentine is currently in the L.A. production of The Producers and has also been seen in Broadway’s Cats, The Frogs and Fosse (which her performance was captured on film for the DVD!);
Brook Tansley as Belle in Broadway’s Beauty and The Beast and Hairspray

Not exhaustive lists, by any means, but still interesting. Jaime Lyn Kirchner has actually not been in Rent for quite some time, but she toured with the show as well as appeared in the Broadway cast. A few other Tischies who have been in Rent are Jared Stein as musical director (and very soon as MD for the national tour of Spring Awakening), Haven Burton (currently in Legally Blonde), Jenna Noel, Amanda Guillett, and Christina Sajous. Matthew Saldivar and Natalie Hill from Grease are also NYU grads but I think maybe they're both from grad programs, not positive. And, sadly, Jason Tam is no longer in A Chorus Line but he has been busy doing a few workshops, and, as far as I know, continues on OLTL. Last year, there were Tischies in national tours, including Hairspray and Little Women. Britta Ollmann, currently in A Catered Affair, is another Tisch grad from CAP21, and I believe that there were a couple in last year's wonderful production of Cyrano de Bergerac, but, sorry, I forget their names!

Many Tisch grads are involved each year in the NYMTF, as well as with numerous theatre companies in the city, some of whom have posted here on CC, as have their moms. :)

I don't want to mention my daughters' friends' names but her CAP21 classmates or else recent grads have recently been in National Tour of Little Women (lead), LA production of History Boys, European Tour of West Side Story, National Tour of Spelling Bee (lead), National Tour of Mamma Mia (lead), Spring Awakening original cast, the cast of Hair in Central Park (I forget the official theater title), and many others I can't think of at the moment...these are just her CAP classmates/friends.....not alum from the past, etc.

I happened to notice that there were some lists "floating" around on other college threads, and so I merely copied and pasted the 2006 list from the CAP21 webside page :D. I know a LOT of this info is outdated, and that there are a LOT more CAP graduates and students working as we speak. Tisch is not necessarily very efficient at providing a lot of "current info" as there are simply too many graduates to keep track off and obviously those who land parts would also need to be disciplined enough to enter their successes in the alumni database.

Anyway, it was "just for kick" and shows some of CAP21's highlights...

I also just received a really neat PM re. Matt Morrison being cast in South Pacific and the many write ups that make mention of his abs. Thought I'd share that with y'all :D.

mtgrlsmom, you're right about Matt's abs being a point of discussion! I haven't seen the show yet but a few friends have and these 50-something women loved it, I tell you. :) All kidding aside, this production of South Pacific is, by all accounts, a beautiful one and it looks like it will be a huge success. A new block of tickets is now on sale well into next winter, which is a good sign. I remember Matt when he was in Footloose in the late 90's and his talent was in evidence, even in an ensemble role. It's just sad that he's had to cut those beautiful curls.

I'm happy that South Pacific looks like it's headed for a long run. We have a family friend who is in the cast and he's the one I've mentioned in earlier discussions who left a long-running Broadway show after 7 years to take another role, and then the new show closed in 3 weeks. I'm happy for him to be able to show his talents in another show, and have it be a successful one! It's a terrific year for him as his wife is also in a Broadway show at the moment. Feast or famine, that's how it works all too often.

One other Tischie who I neglected to mention previously is the wonderfully talented Michael Longoria who is Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys.

AlwaysAMom, coincidentally, my D told me today that Jenna Noel (who is now back at CAP finishing up after leaving to do the RENT tour) is taking over my D's role in a musical as my D has left the show. Also, coincidentally, today my mom said she wants to take my D who is in NYC and my niece who is in a BFA in Acting program who will be visiting her on her way to Israel, to see South Pacific next month.

Small world, Susan. :) I had heard through my friend, Linda (whom you sorta know!) that Jenna was returning to studio this semester. Linda had dinner with her in Nov. in the city and Jenna was in an academic semester in the fall. She's an incredibly talented young woman who, I'm certain, has many good things in her future!

Hooray for your mom, niece and D going to see South Pacific. I don't think I'll be able to get to do that til fall sometime. Now til then is just too chock full of wedding things! :)

Hi RossJi....My D most defniitely told me that her pal from Spelling Bee was cast in Godspell on Broadway. I just forgot to mention it in my post as I was just thinking off the top of my head. We are happy for her!

Speaking of some Tisch/CAP21 alum above, my D (who is a current student) is performing in a cabaret at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre (in NYC) this coming Monday night with Britta Ollmann (A Catered Affair), Dana Steingold (Spelling Bee Tour, Godspell coming to Broadway), Carrie Manolakos (Sophie in Mamma Mia currently on Broadway and recently on tour) all recent CAP alum, as well as others. It seems weird for her to perform with friends and to think they now are on Broadway.
