Capstone Question

Is there a separate application for Capstone Scholars? My son applied for Honors College, but I’m not sure his stats are going to be high enough for that. He is more in line with the Capstone stats I have seen. Does he need to do something to express an interest in Capstone, or does your Honors College application put you in the running for Capstone?

All applicants are considered for Capstone - no separate application.

I do suspect there may be some spillover from Honors applicants who are not accepted to HC who may be then considered for Capstone.

Great! Thank you!!

The Capstone dorm is much more fun than the Honors Residence anyway (per my kid and her friends who lived in the Honors Dorm but hung out a lot in Capstone .

Also, note that even if your S doesn’t get into the HC right now, it’s still an option second year if he’s still interested. A friend of my D’s who was in Capstone as a freshman applied and was accepted to the Honors College for sophomore year and did end up graduating with the HC notation on her diploma.

Mine applied for Honors and didn’t make that and was offered Capstone. The kids called it “almost honors” LOL. If your son DOES get Capstone, PLEASE encourage him to live in that dorm. Really great experience and many of the kids my D met that opted for other dorms really regretted that decision after seeing how tight the Capstone dorm kids were. She considered applying for Honors for sophomore year but decided it wasn’t going to be worth it to her. She’s on track to be a Capstone Fellow which is big enough honor for her.

What is Capstone Fellows? My daughter is doing Capstone next year & we are very excited for her!

@charlestonmom5 Capstone Fellows is a designation that Capstone Scholars can earn if they choose to. It allows them to remain affiliated with the program for their Jr and Sr years and to graduate as a Capstone Fellow.
