Ok, I know that this is a strange thread on this forum - but we are starting to think our way through to next year. If any CCM students are out there, do you need a car or is there sufficient safe public transportation? My son has a car, but I’m not sure that he needs to take it from Texas to Ohio. Your thoughts are very much appreciated. Sorry monitors…don’t know where else to ask.

No problem! This is an entirely appropriate question to ask about a college from those who attend or may know more about this.

Yeah I’m curious about that too! I live in Alabama and I’m pretty sure if I attend I won’t be taking a car.

I received a private reponse from a mom of a sophmore and I called the school. No, they do not need a car - and the mom suggested that they wait until Sophmore year. They have shuttles to the places they need to go, and they will be so busy the first year that they will not have time to do much else.

As a former CCM student (not MT) one thing to consider is the difficulties (and expense!) of parking the car. Parking spaces are pretty much by lottery…and decals are pricey. I did not have a car my entire UC undergrad career, including the years I lived off-campus. Shuttles run the UC campus (but CCM folks can walk to their classes easily) and there is sufficient public transportation (city busses) to get you downtown, etc. There’s sufficient grocery/drug stores within walking range of campus.

Thank you. The car will stay home with us and daughter can use it (:. I am also wiery of our son driving in the snow as he has no expierence doing that. Thanks to all out there that came to help.

well snow in cinci is less than amazing- as someone who grew up in Wisconsin but now lives in cinci. we do have ice issues though and ice and hills can be a bad combination.
