Car scenes at college

<p>Anybody on here into the Euro OR JDM car scene on here? Or do you know anybody from college into it? I'am just curious.</p>

<p>So I take it that nobody on here is into the VW or BMW stance car scene on here?</p>

<p>I’m not sure how many car enthusiasts you’ll find around here, as many smaller schools restrict your ability to have a car on campus, and that kind of kills your ability to get involved in the auto scenes as far as I’ve seen. I’m sure costs come into it a lot; even old Bimmers are expensive. For a while I was looking for a Mk 3 Supra / FC RX7 as a casual project but the reliability and insurance aspects of costs would be prohibitive to me graduating without excessive debt.</p>

<p>I know a couple of people into tuning. One goes to the community college I was dual enrolled at. He drives a modified SRT4 and runs it SCCA events. Another I know (don’t know what uni he’s at) had a ST185 Celica and recently upgraded to a supercharged E30 M3. I know a guy with a clean (albeit NA) 3000gt. But I haven’t seen many VW enthusiasts (probably due to the ease of sourcing American cars / parts in Michigan).</p>

<p>Man I really want to get into the VW car scene. H2O in OC MD, I haven’t been but it seems like it’s so fun. I would of thought alot of college kids on here would be into the VW or BMW scene. That seems like the majority that are into it. Sucks that they prohibit cars on campus for car scenes, for me that would be one of the ways to meet new people and make friends.</p>

<p>I’m sure some are into the VW scene in your area. But it’d be best to visit a VW-centric forum and find meets in your area. </p>

<p>Out of curiosity, what are you looking for in the VW scene? MkII Golf, Corrado?</p>

<p>Honestly, a nice MK1 Cabrio. Paint it sky blue, white convertable top, lowered on some Volks te37. And do a single wiper conversion</p>

<p>Here at UCSB there isnt really a car scene anymore. There used to be a nice city wide one called SB euro club but its kind of dead now. In my lot im the only M3 there, theres like 2 subarus, 1 classic corvette that the guy obviously races with (has track stickers and numbers on it), and no other good cars. I dont know about the bike scene but there are some nice motorcycles parked in the lots and some of my biker friends ride together. </p>

<p>So no you wont find a Tokyo Drift style car scene where everyone is into cars and driving in college sadly.</p>

<p>^ Yeah, I love VW’s. I’d love a GTI or Golf R, but they’re expensive.</p>
