i am thinking of getting a new car Scion tC. does syracuse allow cars for freshman year...
thanks

i believe noo

yeah no they don't.

Besides, do you want to really worry about accidents due to heavy snowing? Syracuse is notorious for its brutal winters and I don't think anyone would want to drive that much.

exactly

its a bus city.

If you commute as a freshmen you can have a car right and you can get parking at SU?

yeah. there are ways around the rule if you show some sort of "need" for having a car. also, it's according to credits, so if you are a standing sophomore, you can have a car. people say you don't need a car, but they sure are convenient when you want to get off the hill.

Is there free transportation on the local bus at Syracuse or not?

The buses will get you wherever you want to be freshman year. That said, man I love having a car. I'm from Florida, and yes, driving in snow is no fun, but if you're careful it's ok. You won't need it every day, but when you don't want to deal with bus schedules, man, it's fantastic.

Oh. Whoops.
Yes, most buses are free.
There's a one dollar charge if you want to get to certain places on weekdays, but really that's not common.

Thanks for the reply threekids'kid. So do you use your SU id or soemthing to use the bus? Also, how is walking around campus during the winter?

Bus takes cash. Campus is pretty small and centralized, so walking around campus isn't bad at all.

I will say that if you are able to get a waiver for having a car as a freshman, be prepared for the garage and/or parking fees. They're some of the highest I've heard of at colleges.
