Car @ UT

I’m glad I don’t have to deal with parking. I get a free space with my apartment.
Way too expensive for UT parking or any of the private dorm/other big named apartments ( up to $125/month)

Can you imagine how much money they must make off of these damn permits? Damn son of a gun!! I mean, by car, per year. Millions over time.

hah…
But yeah, just the price of a parking permit has made me look at apartments in West campus to see if I might like something for next year.

I’m definitely going to look into apartments for next year.

Do you realize how expensive it is to own a parking lot in Austin? The lots could be turned into public parking for $10 a day per car, with no long term permits allowed at all. They would make more money that way. Or turning it into a 10 story apartment building. That would be a heck of a lot of more money. Parking is a very poor way to use the land actually, although necessary.

Well, nothings for free. I can accept that. Regardless, its still an outstanding amount to add to tuition, housing, and everything else that falls in.

I’m not about to kiss UT’s ass and thank them for not making it a pay by the day parking lot because they just might upon suggestion.

Hey as long as the profit for parking on campus is going to UT, I’m happy. Considering all the budget cuts, I hope all of you buy parking permits so that fewer people can be fired in the upcoming year!

If somebody charged less and it wasn’t UT, I’d sure as heck go to them. I don’t have the funds to just say that it would make me happy that they keep someone elses job because its a pretty big blow to my wallet. Selfish as its sounds, meh. It’s just imo.

@sasha2014: You’re an incoming freshman right?

I know that the parking prices hurt, but the university is cutting a lot of staff AND lecturers. While I hate it too, I know that the profit from parking actually goes to keeping the university running UNLIKE football. Man, if we could even get a 15% cut of that, I think we would be in a less financially dire situation we’re in now.

Yes and no - I’ve been a student already.

But I see your point.

yeah their endowment went down, but so did a boatload of other schools.

hey I am selling a parking.
and yes parking is expensive. Did you know that for every car in the United States, there is at least seven open parking spaces somewhere in the U.S. I support paid parking. Therefore, maybe we could then realize how detrimental it is to the environment to have cars.

Hey I believe san gabriel square is selling parking for a good price. I saw their ad on craigslist. san gabriel square is a apartment.

So…you mean we should have 7x as many cars as we do now? ;)
