Has anyone ever heard / experienced a cardiologist with a D.O degree? Is this possible? Are there specific schools of D.O that have this program/internship/residency. Would someone elaborate on this?

yes,i know them personally

Don't think there are any DO residency programs that lead to cardiology, but there are a lot of DO's that do regular MD residency programs and go into subspecialties. Very common.

Osteopathic cardiology fellowships exist. And, of course, you are always welcome to apply for allopathic fellowships.

One of the partners in my father's cardiology group is a D.O. I think.

yeah I know some of the doctors my dad works with are even neurosurgeons with DO's

Don't get me wrong; it will be difficult. But definitely possible, and certainly easier than coming in with a foreign MD.
