Care Packages!

Hungry as a goat now, @GoatMama?

Usually homebaked treats, but for a special treat, my kids love cookie dough, so have done a care package from Edoughbles for exam weekā€¦youā€™ll get a discount the first time you order and was a big hit with plenty to share on dorm.

The more I see, the more Iā€™m thinking that starting a ā€™ prep school care package businessā€™ might be a good second jobā€¦ and help pay for tuition!

There are companies that do it, quality and cost are the issues. We use a bakery in our kidā€™s college town to send cupcakes for her birthday, too. They deliver to campus.

Iā€™ve sent boxes of chocolate candies and according to S they are gone in 2 days. He loves homemade goodies. I have also done Amazon. Dried fruit is also a favorite. I think anything that reminds them of home helps.

On one visit home he had me bake his favorite dessert so he could take back for the floor.

DD has already asked if she can have a ā€œLove with Foodā€ subscription box at BS if she goes. We got my dad one for Christmas, and she thought it would be awesome to get a box of goodies monthly. And really, there is quite a bit in here for a reasonable price.

Showed this this thread to AtriaMum and asked if I had any chance of getting such packages if I got inā€¦
Her reaction: =)) :-j

According to her... I will be the one sending to homemade (or should I say dorm-made) cookies to HER. Apparently she will be needing it more than me...

Now I have one question: Is baking allowed in BS? How upset would the cooks be if I walked in and commandeered their kitchenā€¦
ā€œMam, so sorry, but I am afraid I need that oven more than youā€

It will vary from school to school, but at my kidsā€™ BS, each dorm had a kitchen for student use. Yes, lots of baking went on.

You will not have access to the dining hallā€™s kitchen.

My dad and his siblings all went to BS and based on their stories I can see the wisdom in such a rule :))

My dorm boys often baked yummy treats with us in our apartment kitchen. They were wonderfully creative and messy. Supervision was absolutely necessary! LOL

I believe a lot of cooking/baking/grilling goes on during dorm bonding nights at dsā€™s school.

DS sometimes cooked/baked a few times in his house counselorā€™s kitchen when he was in a smaller dorm.

Cases of Izze (fruit juice + sparkling water) via Amazon prime, Girl Scout cookies, Asian rice snacks (esp from trader joes or whole foods), homemade banana bread, Nutella, cinnamon toast crunch, microwave popcorn, and packets of oatmeal. Also, artwork from DCā€™s much younger sibling.

For Valentines, Sent my dd a customized box of Russell Stovers - on the website you can specify exactly the flavors you want. She is a Roman Nougat nut. How are we even related? I am all about the carmels but the care package was a hit.

We have also brought fresh bagels from NY for the dorm family and advisors. Very appreciated!
