Care Packages!

I just ordered a boxful of healthy snacks for my kid from the Nuts.com website. Discovered them last fall, they have a great selection, wonderful customer service, and it usually gets there within the next day or two for a very small shipping fee.

I’m always on the lookout for new, fun, and yummy items to surprise her with during exam week in particular.

What have your kids enjoyed receiving in care packages?

Our school does care packages, esp exam packages, as a fundraiser. They are filled with junk food, not healthy at all…but fun. I have also sent DS personalized M&Ms. HIs BS has its annual inter-school week-long contests this week, and so I send him 2 lbs of yellow and blue M&Ms with fun cheer-y messages on them, for his society. Silly, yes… but he got a kick out of it and it will hopefully power him through this last week before spring break.

My kid had a tough week last week. I made cookies (ginger, her favorite). Put in some whole grain goldfish crackers & dried apricots, too. They just like to know that you are thinking of them.

Always homebaked treats with plenty to share with their friends. For my daughter, I’d also send seasonal/holiday room/door/window decor.

It’s nice to know they can receive homebaked goodies! You can not do that in public schools!

Another reason to add to the list of reasons to send your child to boarding school: no snack police.
I always found that so ridiculous. Fortunately my kids were phasing out of the public schools when that stuff was picking up steam.

Boarding school kids get plenty of exercise between mandatory sports, walking across campus, climbing dorm stairs, etc. so they burn off those treats! Plus, the food served is so much better quality than the typical public school hot lunch which is basically ready made food reheated and served these days (kind of like prison food?!), as opposed to our generation where the lunch ladies actually cooked. I guess you hit a nerve with me, @RuralAmerica, as I’ve gone on a rant.

Another vote for home-baked cookies. I still enjoy getting them in college.

Just tell us where to ship them, ski.

That’s so sweet. It must be a lot of fun to receive … And send!

I enjoy roaming the aisles of Trader Joe’s with a Priority Mail box from the post office and filling it with sweet & juicy dried mango, penguin bellies, various cookies and other treats. I grab a card and write a note and go straight to the Post Office and mail it. Sometimes I will send some seasonal kitsch as well.

When I lived across the country I sent homemade cookies for them and their friends. Now I make frequent Sams club runs to replenish snacks. My college kids just use my Amazon prime account and order what they need/ want. Although I did send one a package this week with Girl Scout cookies that were much appreciated.

Silly string. Enough cans for every boy in his house junior year. Very popular.

Lol, ChoatieMom!

I did St Nick gifts for the entire house this year. (Oranges, nuts, chocolate coins, and a book for everyone, including the dorm parents and family and their pets!) Usually, though, he gets junk food. I like to color coordinate. A box of entirely blue stuff, a box of entirely black and orange for Halloween, etc, etc. As long as it’s food, he doesn’t care.

@gusmom2000 will you adopt me? Nobody has ever sent me something that thoughtful. Lucky Gus…

DS wanted a box of twizzlers and sold/traded them with cupramyun, mac&cheese, etc.

I am not a baker so ordered and shipped from
Gimmee Jimmy’s and Cookie chips from

https://gjcookies.com/
http://hannahmax.com/cookies/
I also sent Jelly Bellys from amazon prime.

DS says no one shares cookies, care packages, etc (I am not sure if he is telling the truth) so he ends up eating them all slowly.

That sounds yummy, @payn4ward.

If anyone is looking for something to send, this place has amazingly good brownies and the price is somewhat reasonable. I like the minis. http://loraliesbrownies.com/minis.html

So… I spent the past half-hour looking a cookies and candy @-) @payn4ward @doschicos
