Does the "possible career or professional plans" part matter? I know it's required to be filled out but does it hurt just to say "undecided"?

Colleges are not going to admit or reject you based upon what you put in the "possible career" box. Undecided is one of the options for a reason, because colleges know that not everyone is sure what they want to be. They are just interested in what kind of vision you have of yourself, where you see yourself in 10-20 years. You write an application so that colleges will know more about you.

So, don't worry! Focus on more important things, like your grades, test scores and essays.

Undecided is fine. You may need to indicate if your interests lie in social science, science, engineering. This may make a difference to the school you apply and how you are evaluated.
