careers at johns Hopkins hospital

Hello I was wanting to find out the general placement/acceptance rate for doctors applying for a job across the johns Hopkins hospitals. More specifically I was looking into oncology.

Is the acceptance rate high or low

I suspect that you are quite young for your question is not really clear and really makes little sense. If you are talking about applying for an internship or residency or fellowship the chance of matching depends on the specialty. Faculty positions are a different story all together and one is usually recruited. Generally what happens is that a position of need arises. Word than goes out to fellowship directors and others in the field to see who might be interested. Now days subspecialty internet boards also get the word out. One’s C.V. along with research interests and conversations with people who trained you determine whether you might be a good fit. If all looks promising further conversations occur to inform the candidate what the position entails. If both sides continue to be interested an onsite interview and visit occurs…etc. If one is an internal candidate the process is obviously different.
In general academic medicine is very subspecialty driven and even one’s research interest will drive one’s job search. Since academic positions open up in rather random occurrence, one tends not to look at the the jobs at a specific hospital but to jobs that are open when you are available.

To piggyback on mjscal, sometimes faculty positions literally only get one “applicant” because the job opening isn’t advertised and the Division Head already knows who they are going to recruit. Sometimes, if that person turns down the opportunity, they simply won’t hire anyone.
