i'm considering majoring in cognitive science. i feel like i'd enjoy learning about all aspects of the major, but afterward where does this major lead to? what careers are open to me? how are average salaries from this major?

so there is nothing?
i can't imagine that jobs in cog sci are harder to come by than philosophy...

do premed reqs and go to med school

Psych and neuroscience research jobs, if you've got a strong background and research experience when you graduate. Salaries in the low 30s mostly, depending on the area. Other than that, whatever's open to other liberal arts majors will be open to you. You'll be in a similar boat to a bio major, except that you likely won't have the background to apply to non-neuro positions.

hey! we're actually on the same boat here! i'm thinking of majoring in cognitive science and is just at a total lost as to what a degree in that field can lead me to. In one aspect, I want to follow my interests and just major in something that i'm totally interested in. On the other hand, I can't see what i can do with what I learned once I graduate. such a dilemma.

i've heard of quite a lot of students from this area go into some computer business, because of the computer science branch of cogsci?? idk, but i'm thinking there must be some other options out there.

caramlefloat, are you and i the same person? it sounds like it! haha

To me, it's on the same boat as all the liberal arts majors. I don't it's the major itself that gets you the jobs but the courses you took for that major that counts. For example, you learn computer science courses which will help you get certain cs or cis related jobs. Psychology is helpful because of the knowledge of how humans behave can bring so much into the workforce (also the fact that you can read and if so: research). Linguistics and Philosophy are also essential bringing critical thinking. That plus maybe a minor and internship can get you any related job you can think of.

These are only my opinions.

bump one more time. i'm really interesetd in this major
