Academic Quiz Bowl Team Takes National Title
For the second time in eight years, the Carleton College academic quiz bowl team won the National Academic Quiz Tournament Undergraduate Intercollegiate Championship. team members names defeated Harvard in the undergraduate final, 305-205, to clinch the national title.

This year's tournament was held at the University of Minnesota.

Eric Hillemann, Carleton's coach, reports the team won ten matches en route to the national title, defeating Oklahoma State, Michigan, Stanford, Virginia, Florida, Grinnell, Amherst, Rutgers and UCLA to reach the finals.

At halftime Carleton led 200-85. Harvard fought back impressively, however, closing the gap to 55 points at 260-205 in favor of Carleton.

Very impressive.
However three of the four team members are graduating this year,so it wouldn't shock me if there is somewhat of a dropoff going forward, for a while.

Nope SJCM, but a friend of ours from our Rockford days who is on the team did! He's running for Carleton's Biggest nerd and there is still time to vote! It's on the KRLX page. LOL We've been trying to drum up some business for him, but he's a distant second. He graduates this year.

You might recognize the guy that has the Wednesday 1 pm time slot on KRLX. ;p

True moneydad, although I wonder if they could win back-to-back at that level anyway. My friend's son has been involved with this for several years and he does graduate this year.

Mine is on the newly revitalized debate team. They got to NPDA nationals this year, but still have some work to do!
