NAQT Quiz Bowl

<p>Two Swarthmore Quiz Bowl teams competed in the 2008 NAQT Mid-East Sectional Championship Tournament at the University of Pittsburgh on February 9. The "B" team finished with a 7-5 record. The "A" team went undefeated at 12-0 and qualified for the national championship tournament at Washington University in St. Louis on April 11-12. Swarthmore is competing in NAQT Division II due to the experience level of the teams this year. </p>

<p>The really neat thing about this is that the team is new, pushed forward by freshmen. It's a really amazing victory for them!</p>

<p>I hope the Phoenix and the Gazette pick this up, if they haven't already.</p>

<p>The Gazette, at least, hadn't noticed this. I'll bring it up at our meeting.</p>

<p>What a nice link to Swarthmore's past. Winning the College Bowl quiz show on TV in the 1950s was probably the thing that most established Swarthmore as a braniac school in the minds of Mr. and Mrs. John Q Public.</p>
