I saw that I didn’t see a discussion thread for Carleton early decision for 2020, so decided to make one. Carleton is my top choice!
Anyone else early decisioning this year? I don’t want to feel alone :((
My daughter sent her application out 2 days ago.
what is she going to major in?
Bio and planning to be a vet.
oh thats cool. I know I want to go somewhere in the sciences and math but I don’t know what major yet
Hopefully my daughter will have a chance to meet you in Carleton. Look for her on the volleyball team if you are going there next year!
Oh thats great. I hope both of us gets accepted!
kchendds please do some very careful research on the prospects for vets. It’s one of the few things worse than law school. It sounds appealing until you know the facts. Going to Carleton and then vet school to make 40-50k is rarely a good decision.
@SAY Thank you so much for taking time to send me the article and show your concern! I really appreciate it. Honestly, your concern would probably go bigger because D is planning to spend at least another two more years in vet school to become an orthopedic specialist. The investment would or would not never return in monetary form but we are looking for something else. We are parents of a single child and lucky enough our financial support will lead no debt for D.
We are blessed that D is a very special talented young lady. She excels in a lot of areas like sports and academics but never does it for grades or an intent to play in college. Rather, she enjoys the process and does her best. In return, she always gets something nice. Like now, very likely going to Carleton to play her favorite sport. It’s all because of her stellar stats and ability to play her sport but she never saw that coming.
I believe in enjoying what you do and letting the passion take you to the next step. She is an animal lover and will do anything for them. Hopefully, someone will return a big smile because she helps someone’s beloved pet.
Sent my application in last week!
kchendds if she is going to go to vet school being a ortho specialist is one of the few ways to make a decent living. Her education will cost upwards of 500k so one has to make a decent living for that to make any sense. She may not care now but her attitude is likely to change when older and supporting a family. No matter how starry eyed they started I’ve never met a highly educated professional who did not care about compensation.
So, Carleton sends response over mail huh? Does that mean they send it out ahead of time to arrive on December 15th, or do they send it out on Dec 15th and we’ll find out a few days later?
@Naathan I wonder if we can see it online before they mail it to us. I was looking at previous threads and it seems like some people knew it a little before the date.
@SAY Just to make sure you do know my daughter WILL NOT have debt because I will be her FA.
kchen, I hope your dd loves Carleton. My ds did.
@Youdon’tsay Thank you so much! I am sure she will love Carleton as much as your ds did.
This is suppose to be a discussion about applying Early Decision to Carleton, right? Most of the posts so far have little direct connection to this particular topic, and seem to be suited for a different discussion thread. I am a new user on CC, but thought the point was to keep posts and commentary in line with the original posted topic or question.
I agree with you and I think it should just end there. Sorry golfer22!
Hi! I’m applying ED to Carleton Thanks for making the feed!
