So, how are you guys coming with your applications? I (finally) finished drafts of the essays, so I should be ready to submit in the next couple of days. It's going to be a very long month and a half.

^ I think D is in about the same spot, although it makes me nervous that you say essays (plural). I only know of one essay she's been working on (although she had 2 other drafts on different topics that she started and abandoned.) I just suggested that she check on what she still needs to do. After writing 2500 characters on "Why Carleton" she discovered that it's limited to 200 characters, LOL. We'll be keeping you company during the long vigil....

I've been slacking, because despite Carleton being my far-and-away first choice, I will be applying RD. :(

Does anyone know if they send a confirmation saying that they got your application. I got an email from common app but nothing from Carleton.

I got a letter from them in the mail today. It had my PIN number and a web address where I could check my application status and see what I'm missing. If you filled out Part 1 of the application, you should get yours soon.

mf - When did you upload pt 1? D did in Oct 6th, but no pin here.

I filled out Part 1 a while ago...a month ago, maybe? I was excited to get the ball rolling. :)

LOL - I just went out to the mail and there it was.

Sent in the last of the application this weekend. Let the real waiting begin...

I wish I had applied ED. I'm regretting it so much...words can't express how badly I want to go to this school :(

Hollylove - you've got a few days - the ED app isn't due until the 15th. Unless you've applied ED elsewhere, but I'm guessing you could withdraw that other if it's what you really want.

There's also an ED2, The app is due Jan 15th and you're notified Feb 15th.
Good luck with whichever way you go.

I'd still try to apply ED, but my counselor and teacher recs won't be ready til December 1st, plus I'm retaking the ACT late December.

I think I'm going to apply ED2 though... although the idea makes me nervous, haha.

oh shucks Hollylove, you should've applied ED anyways!!! Did you know that they are always more lenient towards school forms and teacher recs arrival date since all those things are kind of out of the student's control.... That's what like 10 schools said to my brother when he was applying(one of his teacher recs didn't start arriving until like 2 wks before the decision date).

ANYWAYS, GUYS.
What is this PIN# you are talking about? Am I supposed to get something through mail? I'm so confused

Oh, on another note, since the OP suggested we can use this thread "to share any anxiety/concern/question"
Did you guys hear about St.Olaf's ED rate increasing 50%??????????? That is ridiculous. I mean isn't that school like two feet away from carl. eh... that makes me tres tres nervous.

^A couple of weeks ago, I got a letter listing the application requirements I'd already submitted as well as those still missing from my file. Near the bottom of that page, it gives a PIN for checking application status. You probably just didn't see it--it was very easy to miss.

ED applicants increase among LAC so far:

St. Olaf - Up 50%
Wesleyan - Up 40%
Claremont McKenna - Up 28%
Pomona - Up 20%
Colby - Up 13%
Haverford - Up 13%
Middlebury - Up 12%
Barnard – Up 8%
Hamilton - Up 8%
Bowdoin - Up 7.9%
Union College - Up 7%
Amherst – Up 5%
Occidental – Up 3.5%

So my question is that is there ANY way to find out about carleton? WHy is carleton the only college thats not on this list. People found most of these numbers on the news, so if someone called and asked, would it be totally out of the line? Ughh I just wanna know what's the deal!! / brace myself for the rejection letter that's on its way so i need to find some sorts of justification for my patheticness

In the past, Carleton has not released admissions statistics until May, usually printed in the student newspaper.

It couldn't hurt to call and ask - they'll either tell you or not.
