Carleton econ major

I'm wondering how the economics major is at Carleton. Is it a popular major? How about job outlook? My dad tells me he meets a lot Carleton grads at top firms, but not sure if they were econ majors.

For the Class of 2010 - here are the top declared majors.

Bio - 62
Poly Sci - 17 IR = 33
Psych - 46
Econ - 38
Hist- 37
Eng - 34
Chem - 29
Math - 26
CS - 24
Geo - 23

Economics is also popular as a minor, especially with the PoliSci/IR group. Great study abroad program for Economics at Cambridge.

You mean the Political Economy concentration, right? Or has Carleton finally started allowing people to minor?

Econ was actually the most popular major a few years ago. It's almost always one of the top five.

Thank you Americanski, I stand corrected. Daughter doesn't correct me when I say "minor" (she must think I'm a lost cause on this topic).

Well, they're essentially minors. I was actually hoping they might have started referring to them as such, since seeing "concentration" on a resume tends to confuse people not very familiar with Carleton.
