I can’t comment on Middlebury or Davidson, but my daughter attends Carleton and is having a terrific experience. Most noteworthy to me is the truly superb faculty. Her teachers have been uniformly excellent across the disciplines – strong lecturers, good at facilitating discussion, accessible in office hours, kind-hearted people who care about their students. There have been zero duds so far. (My son attends an equally highly ranked liberal arts college and he has not had the same luck, so I feel like Carleton must really place a premium on teaching skill when they hire new professors.)
