Tennis coach..(eh..)
I also have an excellent recommendation from the Chair of Applied Physics and Department Head of Material Science at Rutgers University ;-) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He will write about how impressed he was during my intense faculty level work-study/research (he really was...) He will talk about how my research results were the best in 10+ years and will compare me to undergrads he has worked with...

Regional placement (2nd) for two consecutive years .. Science fair, Category Physics...
Distinction of National US Physics talent...

and now what i most treasure: faculty level research at rutgers (400+hrs.) NO words to describe that intense experience.. and wont attempt to..it changed my life

WAKE UP!!!
okay okay, finally, phew..

My supplement will include abstracts for 2 original research project..
-One has intense practical appoication and will change our insulations we use at home ;-)
-Other, through rutgers (my own tho), is a way to shape memory and extensive memory storage in nano-checkerboards.. yessir...

Thats me.. yea, i do sound depressed, dont i?

i have too much stuff to do.. and I do a lot, in my mind, and its hard to balance.. but I try..

so, what are my chances

Good. Do you sleep?

Pick a number 1 to 12. Roll the dice. Normal rules apply. Chances 1:7.

@mathmom, yes, becuase I dont do any school homework; my A+'s are only becuase of my high test grades.. and again, I’ve been balancing this for a while, so its part of me.. I do have a great social life :expressionless: which may be hard to believe…

@thisoldman, =(.. what can i improve on? I mean, some of the things on my app arent great, but I surely do have others that can very well compenstate for the stuff I dont have..

So, what are my chances?

Accepted…

so you’d say its a match? I want atleast two matches.. I know Rutgers is one of them..

Ya I think it’s a match. You have everything that I think they are looking for.(Good grades in hard classes, Good EC, and you have research experience)

thank you.. what other good schools would you recommend.. except U of CHicago, Vandy, and MIT

Rice? Don’t write it off just because it’s in Texas.

If Harvard was in Texas, and I had perfect SAT’s and I was the one to develop the cure for cancer as a high school student, I wouldnt even consider it..
Partly becuase I am from the northeast, lol, and I doubt if Texas compares to great college cities such as Boston and CHicago

So, geographically, Rice isnt my choice..
thanks =)
anyone elseeeeeeeee

Depends… If your a football fan :P

lol if i wanted to go for football.. i’d hit USC! or, notre dame!
LOL

I was talking about states :)

Being frank, your SAT I scores (1900 ?) are too low and so is your Math IIc SAT II score. It depends however on what college within CMU you are applying to. SCS would be a reach, MCS may be a match.

First of all, a lot of students at CMU did not get very high SAT’s.

Secondly, an admissions officer at CMU told me that SAT’s are on the bottom of the list of admission factors.(This could just be because most people who are accepted for high GPA’s and other factors had high SAT’s anyway)

I don’t think a 1900 will be the reason you’d be rejected…If you are rejected it will be something else…

lol if i wanted to go for football.. i’d hit USC! or, notre dame!

notre dame?? HAHAHAHAHA 1-5
GO BLUE.

Rice has a beautiful campus, an excellent atmosphere, and is in a big city.

Houston isn’t the nicest city, but I advise you to drop all stereotypes you have of Texas, because Houston and especially the Rice campus do not fit the bill. Rice’s campus is so secluded, so well set-up, that it feels like you’re walking through Harvard rather than a Texas school.

The only indication that you’re in Texas is, of course, the heat.

What is the breakdown of your SAT I? If it’s your CR and Writing that brought it down, then you still have a somewhat good chance.

1st.. 700 M, 600 in two each..
2nd… 800 M(i’m 99 percent sure of it).. 650 R.. 700+ writing.. ;-)

wow, rice sounds like a good one.. maybe i’ll visit it after vanderbilt

ty guys

Again, the first set of scores are too low for CMU’s most competitive colleges like SCS. The second set, if it turns out to be in line with your expectations, is a match.
