Carnegie Mellon Acceptance Letters and Essays

When do they send the acceptance letters?
Also, can any of you give me any tips on how to write the personal essays, because I have no idea where to start or even what to say in them.

I am under the impression that CMU doesn't send out acceptances until late March, after their adjudicators have seen everyone. But there are probably exceptions to this rule, as there are for every rule. As far as the essays, it would probably be best if you talked to an English teacher or the guidance counselor at your school about that. People really cannot advise you on that via the Internet. What you say has to come from inside you.

CMU is a private university and they are bound by the deciesion date determined for all of their departments. No decisions at all came out last year until March 30-April 1 and some had to wait another 2 weeks after that for the decision to be officialy posted. I do know that Gary and Barbara did call the kids who got in before it was officially posted but not before the end of March. Hope this helps

The acceptances were posted online last year at midnight on the 26th. Many of the kids accepted were called between the 21st and 26th. Letters were mailed on the 24th for those acceptances. Waitlist and rejection letters went out later, I believe.

kayslmom,
Thanks you for the clarification. I knew from friends that it was late in March, but could not remember the exact dates!
