@Enthouse but you do offer great advice.
Maybe last year they didn’t ask international students to pay for priority mail themselves?
Not on the waitlist here.
@hellothere: I think if you are not on the waitlist, you either got into one of your three choices or you were rejected. You would be on the waitlist if, for example, you didn’t get into your first or second choices and didn’t get accepted to your third but not rejected either. That would be my interpretation but it is just my guess.
oh i see hopefully that is the case thanks
For applicants in the states, does your “Admission Documents Sent” section say that decisions have been mailed?
Edit: I mean I know they have but I’m wondering if I can check my Where Am I in the process page for when my mail is sent.
I don’t know how CMU works exactly, but they do review the applications to each college separately, don’t they? My question being, after you’ve been accepted to one college, do the others review your application as well or do they just toss it out?
Also @Enthouse, mine doesn’t. The last thing sent for me was back in February.
The following is a guide to the waitlist policies of the various academic departments at Carnegie Mellon (undergraduate and graduate). Students who are waitlisted for courses during registration should consult this guide to determine how to resolve their status as policies vary by department. It is recommended that students wait at least two weeks following registration to allow all departments the opportunity to lower their initial reservations and take a first pass at shrinking the waitlists themselves. Departments have up until the 10th day of class to enroll students from the waitlist if space permits.
You are wrong @1203southview , this is their waitlist policy. I think it means that you can register for other choices and then if space allows you can get off the waitlist at one department, waitlisted for one or two does not mean you have been rejected by others.
if you got accepted for your first choice would you be waitlisted for your second or would they even read it
@Bored1997 being wait listed for courses during registration means that you’ve already been accepted and are picking out classes for your schedule but the class was out of seats before you chose it.
@Callethiel
Thanks!
Logically, I don’t think so.
Oh that is what that meant thanks @stinkysocks , but do you think I have a chance of getting in my third choice if I have not been waitlisted for it and waitlisted for my first 2 choices?
Logically, you should be admitted to your third choice.
Anyway, you will find out soon.
Thanks @StevenToCollege great help
Oh, these WL may drive me insane… Better than the rejection from yesterday, but they make decisions so hard. I can see a WL for his first choice and no info about his second choice (and he really isn’t sure which one he wants). We shall see.
Did anyone else gear their essay mostly towards the first choice? I didn’t really understand how to incorporate my third choice at all but all the choices are somewhat related. It’s basically SCS or bust for me.
Not on the wait list, looking at it positively for now.
Waiting List for my top two choices. Wow. That sucks.
WHY did I only apply for one program? -__-
@hawkace does this mean we got into our third choice?
