*** Carnegie Mellon Class of 2019 RD Discussion and Results Thread***

I know I am crossing the border from obsessed into lunacy here, but I just called our local PO, and they actually answered the phone! His words “We do not guarantee two day delivery, and especially if your mail comes before noon there is a very high chance you will get a priority delivery on the third day, not the second”.

Time to drink a little wine and wait for midnight. Good luck everyone!

@sassy10kd I got wait listed for 2nd choice (IS). 1st choice is HSS. I have the 2 extra FA document few days back. Have not receive anything from mail. I am from bay area. Hang in there. My thinking is that if 2nd and 3rd choice are waitlisted, 1st choice probably has a better chance.

thanks! @befree8

For a school as prestigious as CMU, sort of a BS way to handle things.

Did anyone call to find out when decisions would be online on 3/28? I just tried but I thought of it a few minutes too late. Office closed.

Me, the lunatic, called too. They said they ‘don’t know’. Kind of like those 800 grad students who already told their friends and relatives they were admitted when they weren’t. Maybe this is a sign bigger than they just botch up admissions, not to sound sour grapey but this has consumed my day (and I know it is my fault for letting it but still). Get your danged act together.

Wait a second, they just tweeted “midnight tonight”. See twitter feed on this page. http://admission.enrollment.cmu.edu/pages/application-status

Thank you @Chamomile7!

Holy crap so scared

Assuming eastern time…

" Any student with an admit or waitlist decision will receive a letter. All decisions will be revealed online tomorrow!"

Oh, so rejection = no letter. Ugh.

o_o

Just reassuring myself by the fact that no one at my school got a letter yet even the ones that were wait listed

If you live in NYC and haven’t gotten a letter yet, does that mean you have been rejected?

Don’t overthink it guys – I was priority waitlisted last year and it took about 3 days to get to my house (in NJ).

so much for putting so much more effort into applying to CMU, and for visiting their campus and buying a shirt >_<

did you get in off the priority wait list @viphan‌ ?

Nothing here in my part of Brooklyn either. But our postal service is always bad. Sometimes we just find mail lying on the ground if the letter carrier is having a rough day. Sometimes our neighbors get our mail. We may never get the letter,

Whatever!

I agree that the combined letter and online posting days later is annoying. Why not just put it up on the portal on Wednesday?

@gavenb‌ No, I never got contacted from the CMU admissions office, although I reapplied this year and got in. Got my FAT letter the day after they mailed them.

Again, they mail Admits via Priority Mail and Waitlists (and rejects?) via First Class Mail in thin envelopes.

I wonder if they sent out letters to international admits opting for priority mail on the 25th as well…
