lol. does anyone know how many people apply ED for SCS and how many people get in? From past years especially.

@OlinProspect theres been a lot of speculation about 25-30 ED kids? not sure tho

Also, does anyone see anything new on Where I am? Like anything different in the documents sent/received?

@nexusguy Good luck on your exam!

@SOCRADEEZNUTZ Nice one! Here’s some more:

What’s the derivative of Optimus? Optimus Prime.

What did i say to Pi? Be rational!
What did Pi say to i? Get real!

Alcohol and calculus don’t mix. Don’t drink and derive.

@panthers101 there’s nothing new on Where am I? I’ve been refreshing it all day.

@eugeneccatalan Hi! I’m that guy Not SCS though, I’m actually ECE As a mentioned in the post, there really is no set number of people to be accepted. If they feel you should get in, you will get in.

Good luck guys! It will 100% be posted at 12 AM EST. You will see something in the blank decision box appear like Admit/Defer/Reject or something along those lines.

Also, @panthers101, it is super hard to look at overall acceptance rate at a school like CMU since it is literally composed of 6 different schools, all holding different standards and looking at different attributes in people. It is not too difficult to get into Dietrich, for instance, so while that inflates the overall acceptance rate, you shouldn’t be looking at that if you are looking at the acceptace rate for SCS or ECE, for instance.

If 666 is considered evil, is 25.8 the root of all evil?

Why are circles so hot? Because they’re 360 degrees.

@Vulkan thanks a lot for your response! I applied to ECE and am really scared about it rn. I have read some places that CMU admits you to CIT first so you aren’t really considered as an ECE applicant right out of the gates, is that true?

I don’t know about the acceptance rate ED for SCS but i agree with the fact that if they think you are a really good fit you get in. They don’t like to let to many people in early unless they think you will do really well their. I was talking to a current student and they said only 2-5 kids get in early for design.

@pevsis
If we both get in I want to find you on campus. No stalking intended.

@panthers101 So how ECE works is interesting. You are either accepted CIT with ECE or CIT restricted. ECE has a totally separate acceptance rate from CIT, since it is so popular and a harder engineering discipline to get into. If you are accepted CIT with ECE, you can choose any of the (7?) majors in CIT, including ECE. If you are CIT restricted, you cannot declare ECE off the bat. You would have to take 18100 and do really well in it, and then be accepted into ECE if there are enough slots open (usually there are but no guarantees). If you are accepted ECE, you still have to take 18100 but you are guaranteed the ability to declare ECE come spring. Regardless of if you are accepted ECE or not, your first semester freshman year you are considered general CIT, so you don’t get access to the special Hamerschlag rooms that you need an ECE major’s card to swipe into (the 50 cent soda machines :’( ). Everyone declares their major on CIT day, and then you get free swag. It’s sometime in the middle of the spring semester.

@SOCRADEEZNUTZ No stalking, just endless math jokes. Haha I hope we both get in. I hope we all get in, for that matter.

@Vulkan ohh thanks so much for that information, really great to have that cleared up! So for ED can I be accepted CIT restrictive as well? Like if they feel I’m not fit for ECE, can they still accept me CIT restricted?

Yep, that is correct. And you can then still do ECE if you do well enough in 18100 and there are open slots, if you choose to do so.

what happens if you already took 18-100 at summer precollege?

wow ok thanks, that gives me a sliver of hope, im so anxious omg

If you already took 18100 and did well, that should definitely help your chances of getting into ECE! I noticed you mentioned that you got an A, so you should be fine I just got rekt by that final on Friday I may or may not have thought that you short current sources and open voltage sources for superposition…oops :(

Omg you took 112 too <3

You had Kesden though, right? :(
