**Carnegie Mellon ED Discussion Thread 2014**

@nexusguy‌ even i’m an international student from india but no email recieved ! What dis it exactly say ? I think my game’s over !

4 more days guys… This is seriously all I talk about to my friends. Pretty sure I’m just annoying them now. I need to know now before I lose all my friends… and my mind (just kidding but I’m just so anxious) :-S I really hope @weiyourenma is right and decisions do go out on Friday!

@ShreyM

As a non-US citizen or permanent resident, we wanted to make sure that you were aware that Carnegie Mellon does not offer financial aid or scholarships to international students applying for undergraduate study. Undergraduate international students are not eligible to participate in installment payment plans either. If you were to enroll at Carnegie Mellon you must assume the total cost of attendance, which is $64,576 for the 2013-14 year (this includes tuition, fees, room, board, books & supplies, personal expenses, estimated health insurance costs, but not travel expenses). We require certification that financial obligations can be met, in order to enroll at Carnegie Mellon and be issued the necessary visa. After a student is offered admission, a deposit of approximately half the total cost of attendance is required before an Immigration Form I-20 is issued for the purpose of securing a student visa.

^that and they asked me to sign a pledge about having enough funds

Even i’m from india but I didnt get any email like that @nexusguy‌ ! I think if theyve gone through the trouble of making u pledge then theyre definately interested in accepting u ! Did u ask for any scholarship or aid though ?

They don’t give any scholarship or aid to internationals, so i didn’t ask for any.

@nexusguy‌ i know that ! If thats the case then theyre definately interested in your application !

Hope so @ShreyM‌

Holy crap. That is a LOT of money. 60k a year, wow.

@Procrastinations Ikr! I’ve been coming on here specifically to stop myself from bothering my friends about it anymore.

4 days! (Or 1, depending on what you believe)

Hey guys not to cause any more confusion but CMU released a document which has some information which im not sure how useful it is. On Page 6, it says decision notification date is Dec, 15th. Whether that means thats when everyone knows and some people can know earlier is beyond me. http://www.cmu.edu/ira/CDS/pdf/cds_2012_13/c-first-time-first-year-admission.pdf</a></p>

Edit: http://www.cmu.edu/ira/CDS/pdf/cds_2013_14/cds_2013-2014-final.pdf</a> this is the 2013-2014 version. It actually has interesting statistics about admission and what cmu values.(pg6-11)

That’s for 2012-2013. Also, they’ve always had the 15th as their official decision release date, but in past years, they’ve started sending letters earlier.

EDIT: Nice username, lonecoder.

Also we should know when they send the letter. This[/url">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/carnegie-mellon-university/161760-online-decisions-are-in-p1.html"]This (post #12)is extremely dated but someone said that cmu posted when it sent your letter on the where am in the process website. And that kinda makes sense since there is a table for “Admission Documents Sent”. So… maybe tomorrow we’ll see if they send it out. OR they maybe lazy and not update the website and still send it out. LOL who knows.

Thanks lonecoder! I’ll be checking that… hopefully they will update it.

Just wondering @nexusguy…did you fill a pre app for international students at CMU ?

yeah, i did

Is anyone else seeing ‘Follow up Letter’ in the Admission Documents sent (dated today)?

No I am not seeing “Follow up Letter”.

Could you take a screenshot or describe it in more detail?

In AP Physics class right now… it’s been 47 minutes and just realized that i don’t remember anything because my mind is so focused on cmu decision date…

I don’t see “Follow up Letter” either
