Official ED Thread Class of 2014

So, who applied?

And which school?

I applied to CIT for ED1 consideration. I applied for the Electrical and Computer Engineering program at CIT.

I am applying to The Tepper School of Business

I applied to the SCS. I Probably won’t get in though…maybe if I apply to the MCS for RD, I’ll get in and I can double major into CS at CMU. Maybe.

Hey SpacePope, it sounds like you haven’t applied for anything but SCS ED. Do you think you can put in a separate application for RD if you don’t get in ED? Has something changed this year–unless something is different, last year you put in only one application, requesting ED for the top school and the rest reverting to RD if you didn’t get in. You need to check into this if you haven’t already pinned it down…

well, its a little complicated for me. I checked MCS and CIT when I applied ED as #2 and #3 respectivly, meaning that, according to their system, If I don’t get in ED for CS I’ll be considered for those programs. However, I didn’t mention my interests in those programs at all in my essay because I wanted to have as much space as possible to adress their CS program…so I’m hoping that I can ask them if I can re-submit my essay if I get rejected from CS to adress these intrests, explaining my situation. So its wierd- If they let me do that, I’ll essentially be re-applying.

Nice So far no competition for Tepper

SpacePope, don’t know if you’d read what I put in other threads, but…last year my son was turned down ED for SCS. He had also put 4 other colleges down in the same application. After he was turned down, he called them and asked how to get the other colleges switched to RD. They had him fax a letter saying he wanted to be considered for RD for the other 4 colleges, and had him rewrite his essay, leaving out anything about SCS. So, if you get turned down for ED, I would call them immediately and see if you can do the same thing. They supposedly will not consider you for any college that you have not addressed in the supplement essay. But he did not have to reapply, just sent those 2 things. It was really hard getting straight answers from admissions, but it did work as advertised and now he is a happy CMU student.

Does anybody’s Where Am I In the Process? say

Application Complete
Folder Pulled committee read

yup- mine says that
I applied to CMU under ED 1

Yes, mine does as well. From what I’ve heard, that’s the last message you receive on your “Where am I in the Process?” site. But mine has said those things since November 9th so I’m more than a little bit nervous.

Anyone else scared to death that they might not get in?

(ED I to SCS, 3.91UW GPA and 2190 SAT)

Yeah that’s what mine said on November 9th. The last thing that will be on our web page will be Early Decision notification sent which should be dated on December 10.

I was told by an admissions rep that 5 days after a decision has been made it will appear on the website.

Well Ender I just checked and they haven’t posted a decision

Mine said Application Complete on October 21st and Folder Pulled committee read on November 9th.

Well steelers, mine’s not up either.

I was just telling you what the admissions rep told me :)

If it works as it did two years ago it will hit the admissions status page 3-5 days after the decision is MAILED.

My application status has “follow up letter sent-nov 17” written on it. Is this the acceptance/rejection letter? The problem is, I’m not living at my adress right now (as my house burned down recently, :frowning: ) and carnegie doesn’t know this. IS there a way to check my accepted/rejected status online?

Hopefully “follow up letter sent-nov 17” means an acceptance. As of now I do not have that as my application status. You should call CMU and tell them that you have a new address and you can check to see if you got in online on the Where Am I In the Process Page on Dec 15. Sorry to hear about the house.

Actually I just contacted the admissions office and they said that the decisions will be released online 6 days after they mail it. They’ll be mailing it on the 15th Dec and it’ll be released online on the 21st
