Carnegie Mellon for languages/arts?

Obviously, CMU has the reputation of a really tech-y school, but I also know it has good offerings in drama. Does this mean that it's more artsy than people realize? How are its arts programs? What about languages?

Thanks!

Oh yeah. It's a totally unique social dynamic. You have to label yourself there as either a techie or a fuzzy, and that basically determines whether you have a social life or not. The CS kids work all the time, and the drama kids run the school.

Their visual art program is also excellent. And Pittsburgh as a whole is fairly artsy for a medium-sized city (around 350k).

While it's definately a great tech school, you don't notice the tech stuff as much because the CS kids don't go out of their way to be seen like the drama and art kids do.

A friend of my family went to CMU for, I believe, fine arts (either that or something in the arts realm). He LOVED it. Obviously CMU has more of a reputation of science/tech, but they also have an excellent program in arts & theatre. Basically CMU is a great school overall, so it shouldn't be ruled out as just a tech/science school.
