Carnegie Mellon or Emory (Oxford)?

I've been fortunate enough to receive acceptance letters from Carnegie Mellon University and Emory University (Oxford College). I, coming from Pittsburgh, love CMU but I loved Emory's Atlanta campus when I visited (though I've never been to the Oxford campus). I'm interested in doing a PhD in a social science or attending law school; I will major in Decision Science at CMU or Economics at Oxford/Emory. Assuming the cost of attendance is almost the same for both, and knowing that this is a CMU thread, which one should I pick?

Questions about Carnegie Mellon:
1) Is Decision Science a strong program, academically but more importantly with respect to job offers and employment?
2) Is the social scene at CMU relatively lame and stifling (e.g. similar to those of Case Western, UChicago, Caltech, and MIT)?
3) Are the students in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences as intelligent and able generally as the others, and do they receive similar respect, support, and research funding to those in, say, CIT or SCS?
4) Is the academic atmosphere excessively competitive?

Thanks, in advance!!

I have a good friend that goes to Emory. The Oxford campus is nothing like the Emory campus. It is much more rural and close-knit, and apparently there tends to be a good amount of drama due to everyone’s closeness.

Thanks BMittman; do you go to CMU by chance?

Yes, I do.

My son was admitted into HSS and I have the same questions as IvyLeague2016, especially about if Decision Science is a strong program academically, and if the students in HSS are as intelligent/able/respected etc. as students in the other colleges at CMU. Can any current students comment on this?
