not me @nomorecoll96
Hey everyone, SAMS '17 alum here. Just wanted to say to those accepted, and will be attending SAMS this year, that I will be meeting you sometime this summer to give a talk about my post-SAMS experience (including my experience with NASA and interning). I’ll actually be coming in the middle of my internship with NASA Langley this summer to give the talk. Anyway, I am currently formatting how the talk will go and wanted to let you all know that if there is anything you’d like to know about my SAMS and post-SAMS experience, or anything you think should be included in my talk, feel free to let me know.
In addition, three of your SAMS RAs are some of my best friends, from SAMS '17, so you’ll definitely be having a good time. I’ll talk with them and see if they can restart Assassin again, because that was definitely fun! But yeah, expect a fun time this summer full of stress, lounge parties, freedom, and (maybe) a good dance party.
@nomorecoll96, they sent me an email to check my portal and I have 14 business days to decide/put down a deposit. @TheMadScientistX, I was waitlisted January 28th
@sakkaboi, i figure the list should start to move now that results from some of the other programs have come out. congrats. I haven’t gotten anything yet.
did anyone going to SAMS get an email for the course request survey?
is there a group chat for ppl going this summer??
@dinozoe Yep. Look up Sams 2019 groupchat on reddit!
Hey guys. I’m new to the thread I saw how this was one of the few places dedicated to AP/EA students. I’m trying to see if there is any group chat dedicated to exclusively AP/EA students and if there isn’t, form one to introduce students to each other and see what courses they have in common. Also, to anyone in AP/EA that still hasn’t been registered into the two courses, I would please encourage you to request 82-171E Elementary Japanese I and 82-273E Introduction to Japanese Language and Culture as the former is at risk of being dropped and the latter only has four students in total. Thanks.
@GenericAnon24 Our group chat on GroupMe has SAMS and some AP/EA kids so you could join if you’d like. See my post above yours.
i checked it out and it says that the gc is no longer available??
I just created another GroupMe for mainly APEA attendees in case anyone is interested (since I noticed the gc was no longer joinable as well). Just search up : [apea “2019”] in reddit (seach the text inside the brackets) and the post to the GroupMe should pop up.
The SAMS group chat link on Reddit is working again
Hey everyone, is there a groupchat for students admitted into ai4all? (Just got accepted )
I’m planning to apply this year, any suggestions? When can I apply, I saw that some of you received the acceptance letter in December but on the website it’s until january
when did you apply last year? and what were your stats?
I got rejected this year but you can start submitting applications around the beginning of December I think (I don’t remember exactly, though), and the deadline is February 15th but I think they are a bit lenient on that. The decisions are rolling admissions, so I think decisions for each individual are supposed to be out within 2 weeks of the submission of your application (although it took around 4 weeks for me because I finished my application really close to the deadline, while everyone else was submitting them as well). From my understanding the earlier you apply, the better chance you have to be accepted. However, don’t make the mistake I did this year and only apply to this program because when I got my rejection back it included in the decision statement that the acceptance rate this year was 7.5% (very low and not what I expected???). Also this is solely my opinion but I think this program is more interested in admitting applicants that are underrepresented and minorities in the STEM field rather than accepting students who already have strong stats and extracurriculars. I made another mistake of glossing over that part of the description as well ?. Good luck if you decide to apply next year!
Just curious, any freshman who got admitted to SAMS or Ai4all ?
nah bro you’ve gotta be 16 to do these programs
