Carnegie Mellon Summer Programs for Diversity

@engineering2015‌ I received an email saying I’ve been accepted into the drama program. I applied through the programs for diversity. It said I would receive more info with my admission packet, which I have yet to receive.

Did you say that you would be willing to pay if you were not accepted into Diversity? Are you sure that you were accepted through Diversity, or only Drama at this point?

@planner03 No I only applied through the Diversity, did not give say that I could pay if accepted. I’m uncertain if I was accepted through the Diversity, I’m waiting on my admission’s packet which comes in May.

@jandrechak I’m in the same boat as you. I applied for the Music and AP/EA program. I got an email from the music director at Carnegie Mellon a few days after I submitted my application saying that he loved my audition and is pushing for them to accept my application. The thing is, he was writing from the Pre-College program, and I applied through Diversity. So I’m not sure if they accepted me into the Diversity program itself, or if they just think I’m good enough but haven’t actually accepted me yet.

Anybody hear word yet? Apparently emails come out today but I’ve not gotten anything as of 6 pm PST.

@aminebz they don’t do emails, they do snail mail. I called them, and they are officially in the mail as of yesterday!

Got letter today. I got accepted to AP/EA for diversity. :-)

Just got the big envelope——APEA for diversity.
Need to decide between this and TASP I can’t believe I have this decision to make holy crap

Argh why do I have to live in Minnesota whyohwhyohwhy

Although I really pity those in Hawaii and Alaska… That must suck

Note to anyone on the waitlist:
I’m sure that I’m not the only one who has other choices and may give up their scholarship so don’t give up hope! Spots will free up!!!

@halcyon97‌ thanks for the encouragement, I was getting upset when I realized I’m on the waitlist. And congrats, I heard TASP is the most prestigious program in humanities. I would have apply but the writing requirement is too much.

Does anyone know if there is a fb group or anything for SAM’S and AP/EA 2014?

@FCS2015‌ @halcyon97 is the APEA Diversity program all-tuition paid? I was waitlisted for it but the letter wasn’t clear on whether or not I’d have to pay tuition if I were to be offered a slot later.

Yes the letter said tuition is covered as part of the William Elliott scholarship

That’s good to hear, thank you!

About classes for APEA… Do you take one class for three weeks and then take another for the remaining three? Or do you take both for all six weeks?

I think both for six weeks.

for everyone on the waitlist
The letter said we should know the result by May 30, should we call them on that day?

I called the Diversity office about a week after I received my waitlist letter just to confirm that they received my fax. I also asked about the status of the waitlist, but I got a really unhelpful and general answer.

Basically, I think you should call if you have the same reasons as I did, to double-check and to convey further interest. If you just want to know if you were admitted, I’d say to wait for your letter in the mail because they wouldn’t necessarily give you an answer over the phone, as they’ve already sent out their decision.

Did anyone make a chat group or something of the like for this program? Y’know so we can meet and :-h socialize before the program.
