Carnegie Mellon vs. MPulse Summer Program

I was recently accepted into both Carnegie Mellon's summer drama program as well as MPulse's drama program. Many pros and cons to both. Any thoughts on which one to attend?

I believe Carnegie Mellon is a much longer program (6weeks) which may be an important factor. One of the positives about Carnegie is that they do an ‘audition’ at the end of the summer which mirrors their audition process and you receive written feedback on all aspects of the audition (for example, singing, acting, and dance if you are doing mt).

My D has a friend who attended CMU last summer and he said it was amazing. I’ve also heard great things from an acting coach who recommends that all of her students apply there and attend if they can.

If time and cost are not an issue, I would suggest the Carnegie Mellon program. Our D did the mPulse TDA program – she enjoyed it- but was not over the moon about it. And the faculty member she liked best retired soon after. The CMU faculty and training I think would be considered some of the tops in the country so the opportunity to work with them for an extended period of time would be amazing. However, if cost and time are issues, you can still get some good training at mPulse. If you are interested in MT, be aware that MT will not be addressed in the mPulse TDA program. The focus is on straight plays for the stage although you will get a little bit of acting for the camera too. I don’t know if CMU explores all disciplines or not.
