Carnegie Mellon vs. Northwestern for engineering

I have been accepted into carnegie mellon for engineering undecided and to Northwestern's engineering school. I was interested in doing ECE in carnegie Mellon, but was only offered engineering undecided. I am just curious whether I should choose Northwestern's electrical engineering program over CMU's mechanical engineering program. I am real confused. What do u guys have to say??

I have a very similar dilemma. I got into CMU's SCS and NU's McCormick. Both are awesome schools obviously. If I knew that computer science will be my life, then I'd, without stopping to think for a second, choose CMU over NU. But there's no way I can say for sure that I'd continue to enjoy CS (considering i've only studied CS for two years so far). NU is strong in a wide variety of courses. There are a lot more courses that I find interesting at NU, but their CS doesn't compare to CMU's. Which would people choose if they were in my shoes?

billlemos, if you're truly into engineering and engineering only, maybe you should go to cmu. i felt like cmu was a more techie school and brings a lot of strong engineering students in one spot which would be great for a potential engineer. northwestern has a more well rounded vibe and i think is better for someone who may choose not to go into engineering in their future.

expo2005: I am interested in double majoring in economics or business and engineering. What do you think is a better option?I would agree with you that NWU offers a wider variety of intersting courses than CMU.
However, I dont know if I would fit it into the 'rich kids' atmosphere that NWU seems to have. I would prefer a more 'working class' atmosphere that is present in CMU.

CMU has an engineering BS w/ MBA program, just so you know

is it easy to get in to the engineering BS w/MBA program?

No it's not.

blech everyone that has been accepted so far. i wanna hear something!

so what do you have to do to get into the engineering with MBA, cuz i m only accepted for ECE

hmm same dilemma here too. i'm undecided engineering at both schools tho. i was thinking of doing chemical or electrical maybe. i'm not too sure. any pros and cons?
