Carnegie Tech vs. UVA Rodman Scholars Program

For me, it's basically come down to Carnegie Institute of Technology and the UVA School of Engineering and Applied Science with acceptance into the Rodman Scholars Program (which is an honors program for the top 5-6% of each class - see Main Page - Rodman Scholars Program).

I plan to study Biomedical Engineering, but I'm having a lot of trouble making a decision between the two colleges. So now flailing around in the sea of indecision I ask this community of college connoisseurs standing on the pier of third-party objectivity to toss me a lifesaver of decisive opinion so I too can reach the solid ground of smug confidence!! HELP ME!!

well i don’t know if this will help at all, but UVA is ranked 16 in BME and carnegie mellon is not in the top 20.

Well, since you brought it up, the rankings are baffling me:

Carnegie Mellon - 7th in engineering
UVA - Didn’t see a rank for engineering in general, but whatever it is, the Rodman Scholars Program is probably significantly better

Carnegie Mellon - Not in top 20 for BME
UVA - 16th in BME

Carnegie Mellon - 22nd overall
UVA - 24th overall

UVA - Top public university ever

CMU is not ranked because I don’t think they offer BME as a major.

[CMU Biomedical Engineering](http://www.bme.cmu.edu/bsprog/faq.html)
Check this out…BME is offered only as an additional major.

CausticAutist, did you make a decision yet? My son is making this decision too. I think he’s not so interested in Carnagie anymore. The Rodman Program looks great. He’s considering Cornell too. He has checked out the freshman housing at Cornell, Carnegie, and UVA and thinks UVA is far superior.
