Carolina Close-Up

Hey folks,

I got a piece of mail from Carolina about the Carolina Close-Up program. I've tried to find information about it but I can't. I've applied Early Action and I'm from North Carolina. Does anyone know anything about the program? The little pamphlet doesn't give much to go on. I'm going, it's just a little mysterious at this point.

All I know is what's on the card, which is that they'll provide transportation, it's for "selected NC high school seniors" ("outstanding prospective students"), and it's on the 30th. I'd like to know more if possible, even though they say they'll tell me more later.

Thanks

I hate to bump this but apparently there isn't much knowledge about this program. One of my friends suggested that there could be a statistical grouping that qualifies students as "select" or "outstanding." I got national merit semifinalist and my SAT composite is 2260 (1540m+cr). Has anyone else been invited to this program? Are there any common elements?

Apologies for the double post...

Never heard of it so dunno really, I didn't get anything about it with 1480 m/cr, maybe you're right. I live really close, so maybe its for strong prospective applicants that are far away to get a better look, is hyphen far?

The Hyphen is Winston-Salem, about an hour and twenty minutes away. That's a good thought, I wonder if that could play into it.

My S had stats very similar to yours, Ninja, and he got an invitation too. We're about 2 and a half hours away from Chapel Hill. He thought it probably wasn't too exclusive an event, because there was mention of providing transportation for students from around the state to attend the event, and there probably wouldn't be enough NMSF level students in our area to justify the expense of transporting them. Then again, I really have no idea how they decided whom to invite.
