<p>I give people tough numbers so they can keep things in perspective. Giving people inflated numbers is far more cruel.</p>

My guess is that theshadow0710 already applied because the ED deadline is in a week, and all you're doing is crushing his hopes....i dunno maybe it's just me that feels this way.</p>

<p>wow, you really did well despite a learning disability -- something adcoms will definitely take into considering, plus, you are unique in that you're white and are interested in chinese/e. asian. if you want to know more, I suggest you email frances lee mehta (she's so great, i love her, she's a senior lecturer) for more information, etc. your chances are probably better than what malice has given. good luck, i'm definitely impressed.</p>

<p>Uhh no u didnt, and number 1 when u specifically chatted with a dean of admissions TWICE, once u initiated, the other she did and she basically gives you the ins and outs and if you got rejected once that means you weren't worthy the 2nd time so psycholgically this trying to bite. Also that means that the first time around nothing separated you from the others, so basically while me and starbury have hooks, yer just being sour grapes loser. I knew a kid like you when I was in UCSB 2 summers ago he was also the same way with dartmouth and he was plain that i didnt get why he got in the 2nd time. Also you dont; have a hook, I on the other hand do, I';m a white jewish male that knows 6 azn languages, and for a kid appkying for an east azn studies major Mehta knows my chinese teacher and basically told her that they don't get alot of incomgin frosh with azn studies major so that is another up for me. dumb guai lou!</p>

<p>Cool, that's ok. Ben has been pushing me to go to Cornell for the past 2 years. I wanted to go there already but he has been my main motivator. He introduced me to Professor McNeal, Professor Mehta who already knew my chinese teacher because my chinese teacher is the head of the new ap chinese program. He and Tiffany Leung have been basically been shouting me down whenever I said I won't get in. Tiffany more then Ben is dead set that I'm going to get in just b/c I go to Livingston HS and my ECs are beyond bizarre</p>

<p>The problem with Ivy league admissions is that it simply isn't fair. There are many, many more people that have the requisite stats but don't get in. It comes down to luck, unless you are so accomplished you are guaranteed.</p>

<p>I had the same stats the first time as I did the second. Luck was on my side the second time. Also, the acceptance rate for transfers into cas is 13%, so I was clearly qualified the first time.</p>

<p>You did very well, but realize that there will be kids with the same level of accomplishment competing with you for that one place. It is an uphill battle.</p>

<p>I know I sounded harsh. That's intended. In my opinion, it is mean to give a student a high estimate, only to watch them become saddened over rejection. I was once in your place. It happened to me. It happens to MOST of us. </p>

<p>Good luck. You have a good chance at Cornell. I hope you aren't as arrogant and insulting in person as you are online.</p>
