besides your class rank, your stats + ec's look very good. (we basically have the same stats but my ec's are a lot weaker). i say you're almost guaranteed to get in. good luck!

About 35%.

such bs my friend, malice isnt in CAS

Sure I am. Do I need to prove it to you?

Let me tell you what I think is wrong: giving false hope to people when you don't know what you're talking about.

I give people tough numbers so they can keep things in perspective. Giving people inflated numbers is far more cruel.

I don't mean to discourage you from applying. A person with your accomplishments would be welcome here at Cornell.

I applied to Cornell TWICE. I was rejected the first time. I feel that I have the necessary experience to comment on this. Is this your first time applying to college?

Ivy decision day is always a shock for people. Take my word for it.

Here is your dose of reality, theshadow0710.

http://www.collegeconfidential.com/discus/messages/5/61947.html

i think you're being too harsh, MaliceMizer10. It's true that you shouldn't give people a false sense of hope, but at the same time you really might be putting someone down. My guess is that theshadow0710 already applied because the ED deadline is in a week, and all you're doing is crushing his hopes....i dunno maybe it's just me that feels this way.

No, no. I specifically commended him on his achievements.

wow, you really did well despite a learning disability -- something adcoms will definitely take into considering, plus, you are unique in that you're white and are interested in chinese/e. asian. if you want to know more, I suggest you email frances lee mehta (she's so great, i love her, she's a senior lecturer) for more information, etc. your chances are probably better than what malice has given. good luck, i'm definitely impressed.

Uhh no u didnt, and number 1 when u specifically chatted with a dean of admissions TWICE, once u initiated, the other she did and she basically gives you the ins and outs and if you got rejected once that means you weren't worthy the 2nd time so psycholgically this trying to bite. Also that means that the first time around nothing separated you from the others, so basically while me and starbury have hooks, yer just being sour grapes loser. I knew a kid like you when I was in UCSB 2 summers ago he was also the same way with dartmouth and he was plain that i didnt get why he got in the 2nd time. Also you dont; have a hook, I on the other hand do, I';m a white jewish male that knows 6 azn languages, and for a kid appkying for an east azn studies major Mehta knows my chinese teacher and basically told her that they don't get alot of incomgin frosh with azn studies major so that is another up for me. dumb guai lou!

I'm plain? Tell me what my stats are, friend. You're being insulting and immature, and you've caught me on a night when I have too much chem homework. Let's play.

fine then buddy, tell me, how many hs schoolers do u know who is proficient in 6 languages? and none of htem from the home u bakka gaijin, yaoshi ni kan de dong...CAO NI! And right now im chatting with a good friend of mine named ben seligman who is a SOPH at cas and he says that yer the one being an immature loser. I usually take his advice but when he says ignore the troglodyte, i would but i get annoyed by spiters. You see he believes that you're one of those kids with everything coming for you BUT without a hook, basically making you plain and ordinary. Usually according to him people like you aren't ivy friendly. But let me describe something to you, from what it sounds like you haven't tried to ever master a language so you don't understand the difficulty and the preciseness needed for it. Heh Ech Zam Gomba.

You just called me a "stupid foreigner" in Japanese. I can't really decipher the other bit. Say hi to your friend for me. I'm a sophomore in Arts as well.

I don't think your friend and I have met, but he seems to know me since he calls me "plain." Ask him what my stats are.

Watch your arrogance. Your English is horrendous and makes your posts difficult to read.

Dude I am not in a good mood, I'm doing 3 essays at once and don;t give a damn about my grammar besides those 3 essays. The pot calling the kettle black, I hate sour grapers, because you people think that you've been through the fire and everything. G-D I hate writing chinese essays in chinglish

hey cool, i know ben (he's a friend of mine on thefacebook) we had a class together. alas, it got to much work for me and I had to drop it, but he's really nice...

oh...sorry for getting off topic.

Show me "sour grapes." I'm a student at Cornell.

You don't have to believe what I say. But when that decision comes, we will see who is more in line with reality.

What gives you the right to judge my appreciation for language?

How do you make comments about me when you don't even know me?

I am very eager to hear your answers for my questions.

No doubt you are intelligent, but you are arrogant, and we don't need arrogance here at Ithaca.

Cool, that's ok. Ben has been pushing me to go to Cornell for the past 2 years. I wanted to go there already but he has been my main motivator. He introduced me to Professor McNeal, Professor Mehta who already knew my chinese teacher because my chinese teacher is the head of the new ap chinese program. He and Tiffany Leung have been basically been shouting me down whenever I said I won't get in. Tiffany more then Ben is dead set that I'm going to get in just b/c I go to Livingston HS and my ECs are beyond bizarre

Heh twice is the charm, but there must have been a reason they rejected you the first time buddy.

Professor Mehta is sooo cool! I only met her once in person but she recognized my voice and we chatted for a bit. I had some phone conversations before and after I went to CHina, basically she wanted to test my chinese

I was trying to explain that to you.

The problem with Ivy league admissions is that it simply isn't fair. There are many, many more people that have the requisite stats but don't get in. It comes down to luck, unless you are so accomplished you are guaranteed.

I had the same stats the first time as I did the second. Luck was on my side the second time. Also, the acceptance rate for transfers into cas is 13%, so I was clearly qualified the first time.

You did very well, but realize that there will be kids with the same level of accomplishment competing with you for that one place. It is an uphill battle.

I know I sounded harsh. That's intended. In my opinion, it is mean to give a student a high estimate, only to watch them become saddened over rejection. I was once in your place. It happened to me. It happens to MOST of us.

Good luck. You have a good chance at Cornell. I hope you aren't as arrogant and insulting in person as you are online.
