CAS or Wharton?

Hi guys,

I am struggling between applying to CAS or Wharton. I have a mostly business-oriented application and would be extremely content in either pursuing an Econ major within CAS or a Business degree from Wharton. However, I'm hesitant about the lower acceptance rate for Wharton and 2 students from my school has already gotten into Wharton ED. So I was wondering if CAS admission officers would find it weird that I want to pursue business, but doesn't apply to Wharton? Would my chances be higher, because Penn has been my dream school for some time and would be amazing to get in.

What do you want to do after you graduate? Wharton is the undisputed king of finance so for someone like me it is an easy pick. Pick somewhere you would be happy going to. I would not apply to UPenn CAS with hopes of transferring into Wharton.

Admissions won’t find your Econ/Business interest, nor your “decision” to apply to CAS “weird”. Many economics graduates pursue a business career.

If you like business doe, applying for Wharton is worth the risk of rejection. It’ll give you much more exposure to business than an econ degree would and while job opps are theoretically similar, it is definitely more in favor of wharton
