Hi,

I am having trouble deciding between CAS and CALS for an economics major. Could anyone please outline the differences in the two degrees? I am more interested in development economics than financial economics if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

If that's the case, then apply to the CALS-International Agriculture and Rural Development Program which is truly top notch. PM for more information as I'm tired.

yea go for CALS either AEM or Development Sociology or something like that

do those ** programs ** have credits in economics courses as well?

i don't understand your question...

By problems do you mean programs? =)

haha, yes i do. sorry about that

hahaha gotcha: AEM is Applied Economics and Management, which is the undergraduate business school. here you will study business as a vocation but also, given the nature of the program's being in CALS, is has a slight tinge of what you called "development economics" attached (moreso than say Wharton). D Soc, which was formerly Rural Sociology is obviously a sociology major but it's (if i'm understanding your definition of development economics) probably the ideal major for you if your interested in the problems of developing countries et cetera. you'll have some econ in here too.
