Wow.
Good luck all!
Its going to be low of -5 and High of 1 tomorrow in Cleveland.
Even during a polar vortex weather event, CWRU and Cleveland are way warmer than U of Michigan, Northwestern, Carlton College, U of Minnesota, Marquette U, etc. Chicago, Minnesota, and Wisconsin suffer the most at daytime temperatures of -20 degrees F !!!. Cleveland is arguably warm by comparison. And its back to normal temps everywhere by now.
@Coloradomama , can’t resist: It’s still Cleveland.
Yeah, I know, I’m opening myself up for a barrage of Cleveland is wunnerful posts but I’m in OH and inured/immune. Weather doesn’t make the school, academics do. Methinks sometimes the CWRU choir doth reach too far…
Pax vobiscum.
@Coloradomama, FYI, a few days ago it was warmer here in central OH than in Cupertino where my daughter works. She seems, however, to be in no hurry to move back to our balmy clime…
…I can’t quite understand why not.
@skepticalOfMost funny!!! OK, I live in the beautiful west, and yes, Ohio is only for those that love sports, cold weather, apple picking, a good hospital for serious diseases, outstanding academics, and the Cleveland Orchestra !!! Its definitely though got a wonderful east coast feel, Cleveland . Central Ohio seems midwestern, Southern Ohio, might was well be in Kentucky but Cleveland? Special, big churches and synagogues worth looking at, in awe, and Victorian architecture, Italian, Jewish and Polish neighborhoods, Italian food like NYC, good theatre, red brick and wood roads!!! music and art,rave clubs, and the CAVS! Its not Columbus, Ohio in my mind. Also, for what its worth, Ohio is on east coast time, and connected to NYC jobs, as well as upstate NY (Rochester/Syracuse/Buffalo) job market and other jobs in Indiana, Ohio and Illinois , the big manufacturing job haven today. Students often land in Chicago for jobs as well. I visit both Cleveland and Chicago, and prefer Cleveland for walking, and getting around. Its more compact, and easier to navigate.
Case students can get to Toronto in a six hour bus adventure ???
As I enjoy sub zero in Boulder this morning, the sun will heat us up to 30 degrees, and
I actually miss clouds and trees, and love the clouds over Lake Erie
and the lakefront is recovered nicely too. There is something about Cleveland thats special, and different, a small scale east coast style city on a giant Lake. You gotta go there to experience University Circle charm. (and crime, and sleet and graffiti and heaving side walks etc )
