<p>mathmom--OK, 3 weeks after the deadline of 1/15 might be more like it. Good luck on those two applications! DS decided against EA at MIT to give him more time to work on his essay (hasn't started yet). I'm sure it will come down to the wire, anyway.</p>

<p>The reason I encouraged early action is because the last thing I want to do was spend Christmas vacation nagging him. I don't think he'd actually spend anymore time on the essay if he did it later, so I'd rather get it over with. And if he's lucky maybe he'll get good news mid-December and he can just drop the other applicaitons.</p>
