Case PPSP 2020

Has anyone who applied for one of the PPSP programs gotten any notification yet? I applied for the medicine program but haven’t heard anything yet; I know they say we should hear by February 1st and that date is approaching pretty quickly!

Also, I just realized that I accidentally applied on the Common App as Early Action, but I remember reading that PPSP applicants could not apply EA… I decided to apply for PPSP kinda last minute so I guess I forgot to change that in common app. Do you think that will be any problem, and is it worth contacting the admissions office?

Are you following along on this thread? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/multiple-degree-programs/1784915-official-thread-for-2016-bsmd-applicants.html#latest

If you scroll backwards from that page, there are a few comments regarding this program. It might be helpful to follow along there at least until 2/1.

At this point, I’d guess all their interview invite decisions are already made so not sure how much it’d help to call & ask. But you never know!

@jumbletumbles Thanks so much, I didn’t know this thread existed!

“PPSP and Early Decision 2 applicants will receive an email providing a link to the secure webpage with their admission status on Saturday, Jan. 30. We will begin sending these email notifications around 12 p.m. EST”

Yeah I just got that email, thanks! Good luck!!

Since it’s so close to coming out, just wanted to say good luck to everyone! If you don’t get selected, without a doubt you will all get somewhere that y’all will be happy with.

I just got my notification. I’ve been selected as a finalist for the medicine program.

@vrhou98 Me too! So excited to meet all of you in March!

Congrats to everyone!

My son was also selected to interview. Very excited!
We’ve been trying to review old threads here & on SDN as well as general web searches to get an idea of what’s in store but we can’t seem to find answers to a few things. Why is there such a vacuum of info for this program? Lol. Most everything we’ve found seems to be quite old & we aren’t sure if any of it is still applicable.
Anyone happen to know answers to any of the following questions?

What formats are they using for the interviews now? Individual, panel, MMI? Are round table discussions also still being utilized?

How many invites to interview are typically declined? Do they fill all the declined spots with those waitlisted so they get a full 70 every year?

They state up to 15-20 candidates are offered spots in the PPSP medicine program. Exactly how many offers have gone out each year? Do they actually fill in declined spots in the program itself from a waitlist?

Make sure to have your son report back with the answers to all of this!!

I was told by the alumni volunteer coordinator that around 1700 apply, offers typically made to
20-25

Also try looking in this subforum: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/multiple-degree-programs/

What were the stats/ecs/other qualities that y’all think helped you get invited to interview?

@Youthofthenation A hefty dose of luck! Lol

In all seriousness though, all BSMD applicants are smack in the middle of their own version of the Super Bowl right now. I think you’ll have better success getting a play by play analysis of their playbooks AFTER the game is over & we know the results. At this point, very few actually know if their strategies (to carry the metaphor over) were effective or not until it’s all said & done. Just getting to the interview stage is like making it to the Super Bowel. The real game day is yet to come. And in all honesty, I believe most people will still be playing close to the vest for privacy reasons. It is a relatively small pool and the majority are likely easily identifiable if all details are given.

And out of curiosity, are you also pursuing PPSP or are you asking because you’re just curious too?

@bopper 20-25 is a little encouraging compared to their published 15-20 spots! I hope your alumni volunteer coordinator was right!

@jumbletumbles

I was attempting to pursue the BS/MD track at Case and other schools. Unfortunately I was rejected from all programs. Best of luck to those still in the running! I’m sure your interviews will go great!

I read it as 20-25 offered …for 15-20 spots. That is not 100% of the offerees accept.

The EA/ED thread says that accepted students got a ‘swag bag’ about 2wks after acceptances. Not really needing more stuff (lol), but just curious - have any PPSP finalists received a swag bag?
