D, a liberal arts major, has several day long interviews coming up whereby she will be given a case study. Is there a book she should use to prepare? How would a liberal arts major prepare. These are consulting companies.

There are books around, yes, and there are plenty of websites that help people prepare for case interviews. That said, all of the books and websites pretty much say the same thing: it isn’t about the answer as much as it is about the process. Typically case interviews have no “right” answers; interviewers don’t care about people getting the same conclusions that they got, but they do care that people followed a logical process to find their answer.

A liberal arts major would prepare the same way any other person would prepare. It is best to prepare with a friend so that the friend can give direct feedback.

My daughter did some networking at school and this was the book recommended to her:
