Case Vs. Mich

I've been accepted to both schools for Biomedical Engineering but im really not sure which to choose. Case gave me 18.6k in grants and im out of state for University of Mich.

If anyone has any opinions to help me make my decision it'd be greatly appreciated.

I am anxious to hear any replies on your question. My son has narrowed his choice down to these two schools for civil engineering. He is impressed by Case’s new structures lab. We are in state for U of M but have scholarships and grants of $25 to Case. Price is fairly similar. We are headed to Case next week for a second look.

Definitely take Case. It gives out generous merit aid along with a top 10 Biomedical engineering program. There’s nothing that U of M has that Case doesn’t.

“There’s nothing that U of M has that Case doesn’t.” Maybe academically. Ann Arbor is a cool place to live and learn, and Cleveland is Cleveland. I don’t think you can go wrong but if you are looking for an interesting place and like athletics then U of M is better. Just figure out how important academics vs environment and the social aspects of college are and the choice will be clear. I’m biased but I think from an overall college experience it is U of M hands down.

Coming from a current Case student who chose Case over UMich, I can tell you the environments are very different, but that one isn’t necessarily better than the other. Ann Arbor is a very cool city, but Cleveland does have things to offer as well, including a whole new revitalization of University Circle (the area which encompasses the campus). In general, the biggest difference between the two schools is the size of the school. If you want a middle sized school with a close knit feel, then Case is probably a better fit. If you want a large school, pick UMich.

As far as athletics, UMich has the nationally prominent D1 programs, but Case also has nationally prominent D3 programs, including football, soccer, swimming, basketball, cross country, tennis, wrestling, track and field, and volleyball which have all been ranked in the top 25 nationally within the past 3 years.

I would recommend visiting both. Personally, I am very happy with my choice and would make the same decision again in a heartbeat.
