I've been accepted to both schools for Biomedical Engineering but im really not sure which to choose. Case gave me 18.6k in grants and im out of state for University of Mich.

If anyone has any opinions to help me make my decision it'd be greatly appreciated.

I’ve heard way to many horror stories about that school. Don’t really know why anyone would want to go there, but that’s just me. Tough to beat Mich engineering, I would go to AA.

You are studying a field that is one of the predicted areas of major job growth over the next decade. I usually say “don’t go into debt” but this is one area where I might actually say outright that if you can afford it, UMich could be a wise investment. Note the “if you can afford it” – meaning an education in that field elsewhere would still serve you well.
(PS - This is also a predicted job-growth area for Michigan, which maintains a presence in med-pharma.)

Case is amazing in Biomedical Engineering. Michigan is also excelent, but not quite as good. But in most other fields of study, Michigan has Case beat!

However, when it comes to the undergraduate experience, I think Michigan has much more to offer.

Finally, cost of attendance seems to favor Case by about $40,000 over four years.

Bottom line, if that money means much to you and you do not mind a less wel-rounded college experience, Case may be a better option. On the other hand, if the difference in cost is not that important to you and you are looking for a well-rounded experience, I would recommend Michigan.

thanks alot for your input so far everyone.

Money is a consideration but its not really a deciding factor. And one of my concerns about Mich was the class sizes. I expect to have massive classes freshman year but do the classes stay this big as you get to 300 and 400 level classes?

Case is better BME hands down, but if you want that typical college experience and don’t enjoy just hanging out watching movies or playing pokemon and videogames, Michigan is your best bet.

I always have to laugh when a poster states a school that is marginally better in one specific area of engineering becomes “hands down” better. Case is not “hands down” better in anything over Michigan where both schools have same programs.
