it seems like Case doesn't have a thread for its class of 2011 yet... so here it is:) when you're accepted, welcome to post!!

i checked my e-mail today and saw an e-mail with a heading of "News for Seniors from Case Western Reserve University"...and i opened it, only to see "congratulations! you're in, now what?" and i got confused. i activated my caseid and realized that i got accepted. haha

haha...same thing happened here. i saw the "You're in! Now What?" and automatically thought...into where...? The email looked an ordinary one they send to everybody, so it took me a while to realize i got into the university tooXD

Yeah I just received my e-mail as well. I was quite surprised because I didn't expect admission so soon, as I applied for the PPSP program. Now if only I got into the PPSP Program :P

haha hey guys i got the same email....i applied for PPSP too...when do we hear about interviews for PPSP? (or are there interviews?)

would it be bad of me to say the only reason i applied to Case is for PPSP? i found out about the PPSP program on Dec. 10th (its deadline) and decided to apply right away. i didn't consider Case before. but now that i know it's a strong science school, i think it would be a great place to go for premed.

edit: yes there are interviews. but i don't know when we would be notified.

Exact same thing here....a friend told me she got into Case, and then I checked my email.

No idea about PPSP interviews.

Nevermind, I looked back at an old email and it says expect notification for PPSP on March 1st.

Still a while away

Welcome everyone! I realize you haven't made decisions about where to go yet, but I wanted to pop in and say my son and his 4 or 5 classmates from the same HS who are at Case just LOVE it!

And they've made a lot of new friends. Thursday nights are brownie-baking night on one floor of one girls dorm. :)

i called case today
PPSP end of jan they will call.
the seniors info email is actually an acceptance and the will send papers put tomorrow

thanks guitar_girls

yeah, thanks!
woot so they'll call those selected for PPSP interviews sometime next week?
and this is pretty much unbelievable, getting accepted so early after the EA round.

This is great. I hope we will get merit aid information in our acceptance letters.

i heard that Case grants automatic merit scholarship based on your SAT score. is that true?

Although SAT scores are a part of merit scholarship award determinations they do not mean instant scholarships, there are a multitude of things considered.

From the Case Financial Aid web page, under Freshman Scholarships:

"President’s Scholarships of $21,800 are awarded to selected entering freshmen ('07-'08). Eligibility is based on academics, including high school performance (GPA, class rank) and strength of high school curriculum, involvement in school and community activities, evidence of leadership, and standardized test results."

There is also a Trustee's Scholarship of $26,000 with similar requirements, as well as other named scholarships available to incoming freshmen.

I have "heard" there are specific ACT or SAT levels required, but don't know if this is true; in any case, you can see there are other requirements besides test scores. So yes, there are scholarships available but it may be too late to tell you to apply early and keep your grades up!

is there a separate application for the scholarships? i turned my app in the day PPSP was due, i heard about the program in the morning and applied that evening.

No, there isn't a separate application.
At first I thought that all of us were admitted b/c we were selected for PPSP interviews. Pretty exciting stuff, no? If only...

My son was admitted after we checked the online status just now. It looks like we got the same e-mail and thought it was an advertising-like message and deleted it. He also applied to PPSP. Do the PPSP applicants all get admitted now if they qualify?

i emailed case, and according to the admissions officer that emailed me back, interview notifications will not be available until early march. i'm not sure how information from a phone call is different... although that would be nice to hear back in january! i have been told, however, nothing more until early march. it seems that they have accepted PPSP applicants to the general university ONLY ... so all that have been accepted have made it past the "first round", per se.
