Hi everyone,
I am OOS student who got into the nursing program at Case. It is currently one of my top choices because of its high ranking and the scholarship I received. However, I realized that the scholarship only applies to my first year at Case so I’d have to reapply for the scholarship every year to be able to afford it. My parents want me to email the university to ask for more financial aid but I’m not sure if I’m actually supposed to do that. Does anyone know what I should do?
First, email to ask whether the scholarship is renewable, if it’s guaranteed all 4 years, or if it truly is a one shot “first year only” scholarship.
Also, ask whether you’ll get a financial aid package based on financial need in addition to your merit scholarship. Finally, state clearly that Case Western is your number 1 choice so their answers are crucial, since right now you can’t afford to go.
This is asking, but indirectly.
If nothing else is forthcoming, yes you can then write again to ask for ‘professional judgement’, providing more information about your expenses - return to this thread once you have the answer to the above questions and we’ll help too.
So, send that first message and while waiting for their reply look for legitimate sources of expenses that would justify your getting more financial aid.
Did you retake the act/sat and score higher than when you applied? That too matters.
Finally, while waiting, start planning costs to your other acceptances.
@MYOS1634 Thank you so much!
Are you talking about the Bolton Scholarship?
@stressedsally nope, I got the university scholarship. I just called and I realized that the scholarship applies to 8 semesters
Congratulations !
@MYOS1634 Thanks!
