Case Western for engineering?

currently debating whether I should apply EA to Case – I already applied and got in to ASU, so if I don’t get accepted to any of my reaches, that’s where I would go (I would only have to pay around $10k per year for room and board). My question is, is it worth it to even apply for Case since I would probably be paying around $30k or more per year for what would probably be a comparable education for engineering? Could any Case grads comment on the quality of the engineering program there and co-op/internship/research opportunities, as compared to a state school?

am I overthinking this? should I just apply and see what happens? (I’m just afraid I’m spending too much money on application fees lol)

If an engineering program is ABET accredited, honestly you are going to get a similar education anywhere you go.
You may want to differentiate on:

  1. Net cost to you…CWRU has merit scholarships and need-based scholarships

  2. Location- CWRU is on the outskirts of Cleveland in the University Circle, one of America’s densest concentrations of cultural attractions and performing arts venues, it includes such world-class institutions as the Cleveland Museum of Art; Severance Hall, home to the Cleveland Orchestra; the Cleveland Institute of Art; Case Western Reserve University; the Cleveland Institute of Music; the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland; the Cleveland Botanical Garden; historic Lake View Cemetery; the Cleveland Museum of Natural History; and University Hospitals/Case Medical Center.
Also, how close is it to you?

3)Housing- You can easily stay on campus in dorms or apartments all 4 years

  1. Focus…CWRU has Co-op opportunities and well as research opportunities…are you more practical or theoretical? both? Case has it.

  2. Size- CWRU has ~5000 undergraduates…would you prefer a smaller school or a big one?
