*** Case Western Reserve Class of 2022 Applicants***

I have a 36 superscore ACT, Valedictorian, Head Drum Major, and a lot of ECs. I think what helped me the most was showing interest in the school by applying to the PPSP program even though I didn’t get in to the program, it was another point for them to understand my application. Congrats to all those who got in! And, for those who did not, there are so many opportunities for outstanding students like you.

Waitlisted - 35 ACT, 3.93 GPA, 1480 SAT (taken once). No financial need.

36, 1600, applied to PPSP but rejected, did a campus visit, little financial need. just reposting in case anyone is interested: 23k/year merit with a baker-nord humanities scholar invite. very happy, because i’ve had a lot of rejections for specific programs in the last two weeks so i was in the dumps a little. remember everyone that didn’t get it: you are an amazing human, and way more than a college decision. good things are coming. also case seems to be v sporadic this year, so idk

DD was accepted with 31k scholarship!

UW GPA: 4.00 SAT:1600

Applied to PPSP but rejected.

@Winky1 So sorry to hear about your D–sounds like she definitely was genuinely interested in CWRU. I hope that they don’t miss out on her! I know that CWRU does accept a significant (more so than HYPSM+) number of waitlisted applicants, so don’t lose hope yet. Sending your D the best of luck with future decisions!

Yeah, I had nearly identical scores (35 ACT) and no need and was waitlisted too.

Thanks a lot @Benji3025. She is very interested in CWRU. You can’t fake that. Thankful that she has 2 been accepted to 2 wonderful schools she loves.

Accepted with 27k in aid. International. SAT: 1450. 4.0 UW GPA.
I am actually surprised at how many qualified applicants got waitlisted this year. I don’t think I demonstrated much interest either.

this is kind of what i perceive it as (even though i was accepted) @Benji3025 :

-a lot of kids at my school a few years back applied to northeastern with very high stats and were ultimately rejected, but then kids with lower stats were accepted. to the university, it might seem as if applying to a school for which you know you are overqualified. i think the way to off set this is to show that big demonstrated interest by visiting campus, meeting/emailing with regional admissions officers, reaching out to faculty, signing up for mailing lists, etc.

-i have to be honest, i didn’t really show a “demonstrated interest” in the university as compared to other people i know who applied. i applied for a few scholarships that required applications and even though i didn’t get them, that could have contributed to it.

-my grandfather went there so i guess i have legacy??? i still don’t completely know how legacy contributes to an application but i assume it could.

Ok so I usually don’t comment on these type of websites but I feel like its necessary this time around.
I got a 33k scholarship.

Didn’t really show much interest but I do love Case Western.

Waitlisted
SAT: 1520
UW GPA: 3.99
Salutatorian of Class

According to the Common Data Set for 2016-2017 they waitlisted almost 9,300 kids and around 4,700 accepted their spot on the waitlist. Out of that 4,700, 333 were admitted.

Accepted!!! I wasn’t expecting that at all. I am a Michelson-Morley Scholarship recipient (value of $33,000). I was also selected as a finalist for the Alexander A. Treuhaft Memorial Scholarship. I will have to to go there for an interview either March 29-30 or April 5-6.

Accepted, 35 ACT, 3.9 unweighted, 28k a year scholarship, no interest shown during process.

My son has all the stats I just listed (top 10 in class, 35 ACT, 4.0 GPA, amazing ECs), plus visited and loved the place and emailed with the admissions folks. He really wanted to go there. I don’t know what to do now…should we be applying to other schools? ARE there other schools? He’s been one of the brightest kids in his school for the past 4 years. He really wanted to go somewhere with other bright excited kids.

Accepted w/33k per year scholarship

@Launching Have you considered Penn State? I called today and they said they are still accepting applications, but unlikely to give merit scholarship.

This is my third waitlist in a row now, no acceptances yet nor any rejections hmm thinking about taking a gap year. Well wherever I end up its where I’m meant to be.
